He had back surgery earlier in the year and injured throughout. He didn't play much football at all in 2015, and when he did was injured and underdone.

Before writing off the idea, I think people should think back to how influential he was for the panthers in 2014, such as when they beat us in the Qualifiying final. He outplayed Pearce and Maloney that day.

All I am saying is that uninjured, confident and with the right mentors surrounding him he is a very, very good attacking player (with Grand Final experience I might add) and I am surprised people have forgotten that. For the right price and term (below $400k for 2 years) I think it might be a smart (albeit temporary) move until Latrell is ready for a first-grade fullback position.

As with some other great halves such as Lockyer, Hastings could be a great fullback in the meantime until Mitchell is ready, at which point he could move to the halves.

And before writing off 'cast offs', perhaps you shouldn't forget the likes of Tupou, Jennings, Moa, Guerra .......... all cast offs.

Jennings and Guerra weren't cast offs. Well Jenko technically was but that was due to attitude not ability. Bellamy was livid when Guerra left Melbourne.

I say no to Soward. We need a FB, Hastings is a half not a FB.

About the only joy I could get out of it is getting up Ricky Stuart's nose. The stupidity of Soward playing at the back was one of the main reasons Soward left.
