  • Ivan Cleary

Been released from the final year of his contract effective immediately. Probably won't happen but I'd love for us to pick him up as an assistant coach. He's a very good coach who has been extremely unlucky with injuries over the past few seasons. Could be very influential on young Latrell Mitchell in teaching him so nuisances to being a first grade fullback which may fast-track his progression. Reality is we're going to be picking someone who is not experienced at fullback so any good quality help in that department would be invaluable. I'd imagine though he will be looking for something a bit bigger than an assistant role.

He's too established to be an assistant. He'll pick up a first gig somewhere. Probably the warriors. It's amazing he's been sacked when you look at their injury toll. I'd be sacking the strength and conditioning coach.

Toovey would be number one target I'd imagine.

He is off the the Warriors. This has been on the cards for a few months now.

I admired Cleary as a consistent, well prepared and professional player. I admire the same things in his coaching. Truth is though, as his results suggest, that's not enough. He may lack that little sprinkle of magic that it takes to inspire those around him to win premierships. I feel for him and I hope he proves me wrong.

Anthony Griffin is Gus' new scapegoat effective immediately.

I doubt Cleary will joun the Chooks. Not sure Robbo and he would be a good fit working together. I suspect the Warriers are closing in on him. Mcfaddyn will be cursing Gus.
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

If so then they'll be very strong next year.

Crazy stuff. I don't think there has been a team more affected by injury over the past 3 or 4 years than Penrith. They have had a shocking run. Add to that their 5/8 hasn't been tackled in 2 yrs coz he shits himself when he sees the defence coming towards him...and passes to anyone in the vicinity.
                            But yeah....lets sack the coach.

Got to agree JC. I think Gould has lost the plot or his ego is out of control.
