ball security is everything in the NFL, out of the top 12 teams currently in the NFL, 11 of them lead the statistics in turnover ratio, which is the differential between the number of fumbles/interceptions your team forces against the number of fumbles/interceptions you give up.

as much as I would love Hayne to be playing for us next year it sounds like he is going to be stubborn and land on a practice squad somewhere and rot for the next 18 months trying to get another opportunity, such a waste for an athlete in his prime.

      Chook.
If Hayne was playing for the Pats he would be a star, not only would he be playing under this bloke, instead of Krapernick, and with Big bad Bill Belichick as his coach, aka the Jack Gibson of the NFL,he would be still keeping the dream alive.

Stuff him around? The team has had injuries. He's needed to fill in. And he's had 3 fumbles in his identified position. I can see him going to the sea hawks though. They've already expressed interest. He'll make a roster somewhere.

To be fair, the Hoodie would have sent him straight to the doghouse after all those fumbles. I wish the Pats would sign Hayne onto the PS but we have a better chance of bringing Moss back from retirement than that.

I hope Uncle Nick puts an offer on the table in the next 24hrs. I would happily donate 1% of my (not very big) salary to help.

He has played at Parra for years, he should be use to the shenanigans....

I don't think our problem is not being able to afford him.
He has sacrificed a lot to get into this league. I will be suprised if he gives it all up.

If we're even half a chance, we should table a decent offer. He is big enough that a big third party deal could easily be obtained.

I think we are hundreds to get him for next season. The salary cap machinations alone are almost unworkable - especially with hardly any time. That doesn't mean Uncle Nick won't try.

I wouldn't say 2017 and even more probable 2018 is out of the question though.

It'd be a nice christmas present.

2 year deal would be perfect.

I was under the impression that if Hayne ever returned to the NRL that Parramatta would have been his only possible destination. All this talk about him being a Rooster is fanciful.

It's like the good old Dugan days... we needed a FB and Dugan wanted a real club (sorry Canberra) so the rumour mill was convinced we'd sign Dugan.

Of course, RTS was out long-term plan. IMO the $800k offer (in NZ with lower taxes) was a shock and we had nothing. It was well above the going rate for an (at the time) unproven fullback who had only played a few games at FB. No offence to the guy, but it's Slater, Inglis or Hayne kinda money and he'll be one of a very few players in the game receiving that kinda cash.

Reminds me of one of those corrupt Chinese buyers you've never heard of, coming in and buying a 30 million dollar property for $60 million without even inspecting it. There's nothing other bidders can do about it. He's got the money and hasn't broken any Australian laws so the deal is his. He then never lives in the property and sits there unocupied for years while the value dwindles. It's on Sydney harbour so the land will always be hot property, but without maintainence, it won't grow to its full potential.

As it goes, RTS went on to be the Dally M fullback of the year and their purchase price doesn't seem all that stupid. I wish him all the best (as a Roosters product) but suspect the Warriors don't 100% appreciate the property they just purchased. I really hope they don't just let him rot by expecting him to pull miracles out of his hat for 80 minutes each week with no game plan or proper coaching/development. I truly want to see him reach his full potential - something we only saw a glimpse of this season.

I think your impression is just that - there is no agreement that Hayne must return to Parra. What is fanciful is the notion that any team has enough salary cap space to sign him without NRL assistance.

Maybe Hayne would succeed if more NFL was played like this game - I've never seen anything like it:

I might be the only one here, but if Hayne does return, I hope its with the Eels.
