  • Jake Friend

Not much comment on here it seems about this player.

Maybe thats because he's got a friend (excuse the pun) or two on this site.

But he isnt up to first grade standard - not at the moment at least. He is very young so that is in his favour so maybe he is worth persisting with (at newtown) for the future. But terrible passing from dummy half, terrible missed tackles and repeat offender at giving away penalties.

I dont know why but it seems our club can never find a decent winger, centre or hooker. I don't even want a star, just someone decent will do in those positions. We've got nothing of the sort.

He and Nate made 30% of our total tackles yesterday, we can't afford to drop him due to a few mistakes.

Therefore, with the Knights unlikely to re-sign Isaac De Gois, should we lure him to Bondi Junction and piss off Riddell at seasons end?
Smith did coerce De Gois to leave Cronulla and hook up with him at Newcastle in 2008.

        Your thoughts???

This problem could be why we are after Hinchcliffe.

His passing from dummy half is great, does more tackles than half the forwards put together. You want to get rid of him. You have no idea. Gave away a penalty. Mose has to go. Most of the kiwis in the side have no discipline! Smith needs to get Friend running more. He is obviously just following Smith's stupid game plan. Carney, Pearce, and Anasta aren't doing enough in attack. Riddell is a waste of a good bench spot! If they get rid of Froend then then score would be worse.

I'd invest time in our NYC hooker. He has a very good football brain on him.

Well we initially went after Watts because Smithy thought we were missing an attacking hooker off the bench.
Now that the Watts experiment has failed, our hooker issues havent changed,we still need one off the bench.
                Enter Ryan Hinchcliffe!

                      I don't agree with that.

We have a very good young squad who are poorly let down by senior players and the coaching staff.

We should be top 6, instead we are looking set for our second spoon in the last 40 years.

He makes the same stupid errors week after week after week.

De Guis is far superior than Jake. What are your thoughts on him?

I have always seens Jake Friend as a work in progress and think he has come along way.
I haven't seen yesterdays game and don't really want to, but previously I think his passing and defensive game has more than been up to NRL standard. His running game is what is developing and I think has improved.

Something is going on that isn't right, whether its Smith, the assistants or the players, I do not know, but the attitude and the desire doesn't seem to be there,

Try and be serious and you will look stupid

Wake up - we can hardly be worse off than we are right now. Nor hardly worse off than we were with the spoon in 09.

Some of you act like childish 4 year girls, that if a player leaves or gets punted then its the end of the world.
