If your numbers are correct then the lols are indeed still short... Cook... $200k? (should be $800k if bean lowe was on $300k), and another two 2nd tier signings from memory @ $80-100k each? + the player upgrades mentioned earlier...

The money saved on Lowe, Stewart and Luke would cover Burgess.
They only need 700k to cover Burgess if the rest is in 3PA's as the rumours suggest. Stewart and Luke alone would cover that, they are both internationals.

Lowe's money would be a bonus.

My understanding is they have only signed Cook from the Dogs, would not be a big amount, and Oldfield from the UK, would be bottom tier.

They have also lost some mid to lower range players in Reddy, Millard, Ed Murphy, John Olive and some other young players who would easily cover Cook and Oldfield.
If they are over the cap they should sack their accountant.

As a rugby fan, if he was serious about the rugby game he would stick around now and learn but old rusty Crowe probably gonna top his pocket up. He was playing outta position, he is not a centre but didn't have time to learn how to play a forward and was always looking awkward. Was never gonna be a Sonny Bill as everyone thought, cause Sonny Bill was trained up properly over 3 years and put in a correct position also walking into a well structured winning team helps. I feel sorry for the other rugby guys who have trained their guts out over the years just to try to make the squad and Burgess just walks in ahead of them for the World Cup. Some on here have absolute hissy fits when anyone dares to question our signings/salary cap. They can't post about the injustice of it all quick enough. I wonder if it's the same fans that are now questioning Souths signing of Burgess and whether he can fit into their cap. Honestly, who gives a $hit. Why care? We showed better than any other team that with 3rd party agreements, players staying for less, signing relative no names, you can put together a very strong roster.

I really don't care if Burgess plays with them or not. Good luck to them if they manage to fit him in without releasing anyone else. Luke and Stewart would free up plenty.
The bottom line is, stop your whining. If they have rorted the cap then they will get caught. Just like we would if we were to do the same.

Why, what's your estimate?

First group - roughly $500k - $600k
SST, Evans, Napa... not a lot ($100k - $250k each as relatively junior players).
Moa... never on much, $250 - 300k maybe.

Second group - little over a million
JWH - $400k
Cords - $400k
Guerra - $350k

I've probably been a little too ambitious and under-estimated some of those salaries, but I reckon we could get at least 4 quality players for the price of Burgess (including at least 2 internationals that play for Australia or NZ). $1.5 million is way too much for 1 player when the cap is only $5.5 million.
