i think were dreaming about coote the way were dreaming about hayne? go out and make a massive offer to tedesko or even a medium offer to Stewart to tide us over till mitchel gets his crap together?
I am not sure of the point of this thread without offering up a decent alternative. Bit like your plan to replace Anasta/Carney with 'some kid from the U20's' who you believed would be better than signing Maloney.

The point of this thread is to compare the value of ball playing fullbacks vs ball running fullbacks in the modern day game.
I apologise if the title wasn't clear on that...
But no it has no relevance to my opinions on who our 5/8 should've been back in 2012, that is extremely random. Although I've finally got my wish of a kid from the 20's with a bit of vision and creativity so we'll see how it turns out after all...
The best thing about this thread is that it illustrates how statistics can be misused by journalists and fans to prove nothing.

What a load of shit! Stats crap.. At the end of the day which fullbacks had which coaches and played behind what forward packs and had who as halves and outside backs?
I think it's an interesting discussion if anyone actually bothered to put up a rebuttal.
We had Mini there in 2013 & 2014 as a running fullback and were still the best attacking side in both years respectively.
The need for a ball playing fullback might be a slightly misguided analysis but the need for a tertiary ball playing option definitely holds true, most teams just look to get this from their fullback. We proved that role could be substituted with a second rower (SBW), but a third ball playing option is a must if we're to be a great offence. Our attack didn't finally click until the back half of the season when RTS started to progress as a ball player, that much is surely undeniably true.
I wonder what the Great Man would have said if he was asked about this fuss?
Perhaps something along the lines of, "I don't care what you call him. As long as he uses his legs to propel him towards the try line or pass the ball to someone else if he's running out of steam."
"The only time you start at the top is when you are digging a hole."
