Jenko signed mid-January and he slotted in nicely.

Hayne is probably at his peak physically with all the NFL training so his fitness would not be a problem either.

Do you think Mitchell will say that he is happy to wait 3, 4, 5 years to see if that spot becomes available?

We just lost the best fullback in the comp. If the opportunity comes up to sign someone more than capable of filling that void I think the club would rather cut their losses with Mitchell to have a long term guaranteed quality fullback. If Hayne or Tedesco do not come then obviously they will stick with developing Mitchell.

There have been many players who bleed RWB that didn't finish their careers with us.

      Just my opinion.
You are entitled to your opinion and I respect it because I like reading your views most of the time.

Our club wants Hayne and if Hayne decides to come back to the nrl he wants to come to our club. It will be perfect for us because we need a good fullback for several years until Mitchell develops and matures. Mitchell will be happy to play in the outside backs, he is in no rush.

Hayne's mentoring role @ fullback will be an added bonus to Latrell's development.
When Latrell is ready for the fullback role Hayne can play 5/8th. Imagine the mayhem our backline would cause

Agree. Watching Latrell it's like he knows he doesn't have to continually prove himself. He seems to play without that pressure and to me that is a good sign both he and the club are on the same page, ticking off the boxes as he develops.

            Hastings to halfback?

Mitchell is only 18. He can ply his trade at fullback in NSW Cup next year. Then he can spend two years on the wing in first grade.

And then he'd still only be 21 if he were to take the fullback spot by the start of the 2019 season.

Thus giving us 3 years of Jarryd Hayne at his peak. Sounds good to me

                Pearce to Wyong?

give Pearce a couple of seasons in reserves to gain experience and he could be anything!

can you imagine a backline like this, even though its only 1yr until Jenko moves on

                  Hayne
                  Toups
                  Jenko
                  Fergo
                  SKD
                  Hastings
                  Pearce

would mean we have a current English International winger playing at Wyong and two stars from the U20 State of Origin game this year Mitchell/Nikorima either in NYC or also at Wyong.

I don't get why it appears unanimous on here that Latrell Mitchell is not ready for first-grade.
Nearly all good players debut at 18 or 19, especially fullbacks/wingers...
What makes him different from Hayne, Tedesco, Stewart, Mini, RTS, who have all been mentioned in this thread?

Because he's not ready. Not all good players debut at 18-19 some take more time.

Ok, so let's say Hayne has to give up on the NFL and come to the chooks - is no one else concerned about his motivation? His Commitment was always in question at parra (went from brilliant to disinterested at different times) and now he will have to "give up on his dreams" and come back to the NRL - he's a great player but where will his head be?

When you say he is not ready, do you mean mentally or physically or both?

imo Hayne is a vastly superior player to RTS at this point in time.
