Not allowing back ended contracts isn't the same as not allowing contracts to increase.

It's the Mark Gasnier 2010 contract that the game never wants to see again.
How glorious that the contract we must never have is the one that contributed to our GF loss.

Strangely similar to them now getting rid of that "wall" when a field goal is being attempted.

        Nothing wrong with signing cords for 550 for 17 (roughly 8% of the cap)and 825 a yr for 18 19 20 under a 10.5 m cap still represents 8% and u have a 4 yr deal worth 3+

If he continues to play like he did post-Origin, where he was imo the best backrower in the comp, then he's worth 600-650k per year. Only spine players and freakish forwards like SBW and Burgess are worth upwards of that imo.

I think Cordner will be a 1 club player maybe England in his retiring days.

Not at our club it won't be.

                Can't disagree on that tobinator.
We've had so much disappointment in big games in the last 30 years.
                1980 sucked big time.
So did most of the next 20 years......
Optimism is a Roosters best friend, or worst vice depending how you look at it. I guess I'd rather cop that loss at Lang Park than suffer their fate the week after.
Nothing will ever stop me enjoying bronco pty ltd suffering however.

Don't care much for souffs, berries, st takeover, fulton's mob or the balmain magpies either...........

I wanna see us rack up three 50 nil score lines next year.. But I'd be happy with a fair go.

You'll get a fair go. I think we will be Top 4. Too many good players not to be.

But I won't have any confidence once semi's start.

Though it was disappointing losing like we did in the Grand Final against Canterbury I don't think 1980 as a season sucked at all, we ended up being minor premiers after losing 4 out of first 6 games and were still sitting outside the top 5 with only 5 rounds to play, considering where we finished on the table after 1979 1980 ended up being a good year. The year that sucked for me was 1981, we were odds on favourites, we seemed to peak when smashed Parra at the SCG in the 2nd last round, we then lost to lowly West in the last round and even with the week off we were so error ridden against Parra in the major semi and lost in extra time then we got out smarted by Newtown in the final at a bitterly cold SCG., 1981 promised so much but we came up empty.

Sounds like we repeated it 30 years later.

No one has confidence come semis. It comes down to luck and depth due to a few guaranteed injuries. Hopefully we have a lot of youthful enthusiasm to push us through some tight ones.

If Josh Jackson is worth $500k how is Cordner worth? Jackson is a solid first grade player nothing much more

                            Hartley didn't help in 1980.

You told me that he was calling the dogs players by their nicknames and our players by our numbers.

I was pretty confident this season.

I was as confident as Garry Kasparov when he says 'check'.
