Not allowing back ended contracts isn't the same as not allowing contracts to increase.

Though it was disappointing losing like we did in the Grand Final against Canterbury I don't think 1980 as a season sucked at all, we ended up being minor premiers after losing 4 out of first 6 games and were still sitting outside the top 5 with only 5 rounds to play, considering where we finished on the table after 1979 1980 ended up being a good year. The year that sucked for me was 1981, we were odds on favourites, we seemed to peak when smashed Parra at the SCG in the 2nd last round, we then lost to lowly West in the last round and even with the week off we were so error ridden against Parra in the major semi and lost in extra time then we got out smarted by Newtown in the final at a bitterly cold SCG., 1981 promised so much but we came up empty.

No one has confidence come semis. It comes down to luck and depth due to a few guaranteed injuries. Hopefully we have a lot of youthful enthusiasm to push us through some tight ones.
