RTS greatly improved his top end speed in 2015. He would be in the top 10 fastest in the comp.

My biggest problem with signing Lawrence is that we were after Liam Knight and if we didn't get him then Lawrence was the plan b. At least that's what a few alluded to on here.

Perhaps Lawrence is a one year, LOD type signing and we have Knight for 2017 and beyond.

RTS is quick off the Mark but Gordon (at the later stages of his career) and Bird are not thoroughbreds and Bird was tiring towards the end of that game.

Ok J Roberts, Koriebeatie, S Johnson, Trbovich from Manly, DWZ, M Pearce (Rooster), Tupou (Rooster), Jennings (Rooster), Tedesco, WIghton, B Elliot, (Rooster) Milford, M Morgan, J O'Neill, that tall Canberra Winger Eldrick Lee, David Mead his mate Kevin Gordon (yeah I know he has retired), Reece Robinson (noted he has now left the NRL , probably B Morris and Dylan Walker even Fergo would all smoke him for starters. I am sure there would be others.....including L Brooks and Corey Oats who are actually bloody quick.

I'd say Roger would have been more tired then Bird, he was pretty much our entire side that game and had run about 200m with the ball in hand before that.

I'd say he's at least equal to a lot of those guys you listed, he's not in the top tier of speedsters like Roberts, Korobiete and Johnson but he's still quick.

Fair point you made re Bird verses Roger as Roger would have covered many more metres but Roger is a beast fitnesswise and had a lot of extra first grade miles in his legs whereas Bird was playing his first or second game of FG.

That's true, Bird had only played one game before that I think. It wasn't just how fast he pulled away but just how fast he looked running. I never thought he was that quick until that moment, he really improved his speed over the off season.

Tedesco and Mead are weird, sometimes you'll see them burn players and other times not. Hell Mead almost got caught by Josh McGuire, though I guess they may have been carrying an injury or something. And I remember a game against the Raiders where Tedesco was killing it and he made a break and just looked really slow.

RTS had to get past a couple first, wasn't exactly a fair foot race.

Lawrence is quick but he's not RTS quick.

My observation is that RTS isn't all that fast in a straight line. He seems better suited to stepping and getting the line break, but is less quick as say a 100m sprinter. When bigger guys get their stride going they can catch him...

This kid is lightning quick. I have heard he is killing it in our Pre season training, now in the first grade squad and some have said he could be the quickest in the NRL, he has the explosive speed from the start but some players then get tired and slow off, but he keeps continues to get even quicker, if you watch him then pick up again into top gear and could still keep going, very dangerous in open space, awesome palm and tough, that player at the end of the video who tried to tackle him is forward Liam Knight Manly's next big thing but no match as well as Manly's Trbojevic who couldn't get anywhere near him, good for us

I have met Lawrence quite a few times and he is the nicest guy you could ever meet. does a lot for autism Australia. Manly stuffed him up, bunch of arse***** but under our top people they will get him back to being one of the best forwards in the comp, he has the goods

Checked the Charlie Taylor video yes he looks very quick so if he gets to top grade it would be nice to have someone with real james Roberts or Steve Renouf like after burners. Unlike you mate, I haven't watched much of the lower grade stuff so I didn't know how or whether he would eventually make the top grade. However, you have said he is really impressing the club training with the big boys so that is a good sign.

Re Brenton Lawrence I met him when I do my annual run for the city to surf for Autism Spectrum Australia (as my daughter is blessed with Autism). A really, really humble and top bloke and yes if not injured a top line front rower. I remember him and JWH having a massive match up in the early rounds in 2014 or was it 2013?
