    Why a slow backline?
RTS gets caught by front rowers from behind and Maloney isn't quick at all.

      Hi friends,

I do not believe that signing Sonny Bill Williams in season 2017 will be beneficial to the team and Nick Politis should refrain from handing his mate a lucrative contract as I do not believe that Mr Williams will have the same impact on the game in that season with a further 2 years absence from the NRL particularly taking in to consideration his age and the wear and tear on his already hurt body. Signing Sonny Bill Williams only creates problems in assembling the best possible squad across the board.

Unfortunately the salary cap causes problems such as the one regarding Michael Jennings and Boyd Cordner. Michaels Jennings was signed with the purpose of maximising our chances at winning the season 2013 or season 2014 NRL premiership and we achieved that goal however Boyd Cordner since a young age has been seen as a long term prospect and potential future leader and ambassador of the club so it makes no real sense to let go of Boyd Cordner in favor of Michael Jennings.

I think that the club were unprepared for the departure of Roger Tuivasa Sheck and that has thrown a spanner in the works and messed everything up. I don't believe the Shaun Kenny Dowall to Auckland rumour but perhaps a move away from the club does seem a possibility with certain business plans being discussed.

I completely disagree with you about sbw. His move back to our club in 2017 is already paying dividends in future recruitment and retention. One star of the game seriously thinking of joining our club is relishing the prospect of playing alongside the great sbw in 2017. The same can be said for a good youngster who is heavily being pursued by other clubs but will remain with us due to the sbw. Never underestimate the effect of the sbw factor, both on and off the field including at training.

I agree fully though with you about Cordner. I also think that some here are taking things to the extreme. Boyd will stay for less as long as his upgrade is reasonable and reflects his hugely growing status in the game. People also need to consider that without players like jwh, cordner etc dominating then flashy outside backs won't have the room to move to have much of an impact.

The salary cap is due to rise and surely we can pay a future leader of our club what he is worth.

Michael Jennings not being re-signed after this season makes sense, as we have Aubbo, Elliot and other younger backline players coming through, he will be 27-28 by the time his contract expires? it would be a good time to save that amount to put towards a key positional player moving forward as much as i have loved our time having MJ.
Defence comes first and foremost.. Keep Guerra.

Cordner is the number one priority. We cannot afford to lose him. Worse comes to worse we move fergo back to centre and play someone else at fb.

Cordner had some injury problems earlky in the year, but once he got over that he was one of our best.
Guerra on the other hand seemed to struggle for a lot of the year, I suspect playing injured as well but he didn't over come it.

Essentially, that's why we shouldn't cave in and overpay Cordner.

There has to be another way to find that extra slice of salary cap.
You do realise the losing Jennings for Cordner scenario was just a hypothetical right? Some people are taking like it's fact...

They are all quick off the mark and attract defenders.

Jennings speed in defence will be sorely missed. Watch how many close games we lose because the opposition beat Copley on the outside with speed. In attack Jennings also attracts defenders and creates a lot of space on his inside for the likes of Cordner.

Some people too simplistic in simply looking at number of tries scored. For players like Jennings the lower number of tries scored is a measure of the amount of space he has created for others to score.

I hope not BeTurk. I think it would be extremely stupid to let Cordner go. He should be a Rooster for life.

And seriously all these rumours are doing my head in. How would team harmony be improved by knowing Jennings was forced to leave a year early because Cordner wanted more money?

I think the players understand that these things happen. None of its personal. The managers are just fighting for the best deal for their clients. The shame is that it plays out in the media.

The best centre in the game is Jamie Lyon & speed has never been an asset of his.

Let me reiterate, releasing Jennings so Cordner could get more money in 2016 was nothing but a hypothetical. It is based on NOTHING.
