Too much speculation going on in here.

Jenko is highly unlikely to be re-signed but no way will he be released.

Especially in exchange for Copley. Loool. I'm basing this purely on common sense.

IF it's true (and I say IF) it makes sense if they are desperate to keep Cordner. Say, for arguments sake, he had already rejected what they have on the cap for him for a new contract. And the rest of the cap is spent. . The only way to deal with that (before he jumps RTS style) is to offer him more money this season. The only way to do that is offload a player and bring in a much cheaper replacement. And give him the saving.

IF that's the case it makes sense. Not saying I agree but it makes sense. Especially IF Jennings was going at the end of next season anyway.

Aside from all that, if our premiership window wasn't closed already it would be slammed IF Jennings left. Where will points come from? Braith may have to come back for some cross-kick action.

will be very interesting to see how things shake out, will easily be Robbo's biggest test as a coach.

I think something like that would make sense.

I think it is probably important to look at each players upside.

Cordner in all likelihood will, become one of the top 3 backrowers in the comp, develop further ball playing and offloading skills and will captain to boot.

Jennings has speed and elusiveness, however we know that these skills deteriorate with age, sometimes very quickly (Billy Slater anyone?). He is getting on and the likelihood of further skill development is also unlikely in my opinion.

We still have plenty of attacking guns in our team so I wouldn't worry - Fergo, SKD, Hastings, Pearce, Nikorama (very excited about his potential) and possibly SBW will there. Additionally, we have some fantastic finishers such as Tupou, Burgess and Mitchell.

I'd let Jennings go now to sign Hayne but not to upgrade Cordners contract.

If Fergo locks down the FB position for the short term we will need Jennings strike power in the centres.

I've also heard that the Eels are interested in his brothers.

Hayne won't be coming. The only way we could do that is if the NRL kicked in. They couldn't do that for us. It would be a scandal.

              Penrith however....

I know there's money available JT, i can feel it in my waters.

Add Jennings 500k and wallah we have ourselves a homesick Hayne who is one big explosive TPA magnet.

Michael Jennings is (often) the Tony Williams of three-quarters.
                  Lacks involvement way too often.
Then does something spectacular and we all, including me, love him.

Jennings isn't meant to do the hard yards.

He's our main x-factor. He can come up with a ridiculous play too and at clutch times. The GF try, SKD's try against Melbourne where he tore the defence apart and a couple times for Penrith he won them the game or his actions led to it.

If he isn't here next year I will be upset.

If Cordner wants more than 700k then he can walk.

He's a workhorse, albeit a very good one. You don't pay workhorses that kind of money.

If Cordner is truly being offered in the realm of $700 from Manly I think we would have no choice but to let him go. I'd give him around 550 but he isnt influential enough (yet) to get more than that.

That would allow us to keep Jennings (on a sensible price hopefully) and means the SBW investment makes a lot more sense.

Cordner is world class. No doubt. But is he worth over 700k?

I don't think so. The problem is that pleb clubs like Penrith inflate the market by paying inferior players to Cords like Merrin in the region of 750k.

Only forwards like SBW, Burgess, Bromwich, JWH and Graham are worth that coin or above.

Cordner, as fantastic as he is (and he was our best player post Origin) isn't worth that sort of money IMO.

You said Cordner is world class Tommy. World class players are worth $700K.
But I don't think Cordner is world class.

I would love nothing more. But it's a massive long shot. Having said that, Uncle should never be underestimated.

Newcastle are the biggest threat as far as Cordner.
