  • Halves combo for 2016...

I can't stop worrying about our halves for this season.
I hope that I am wrong but I worry that Pearce is never going to be a world beater and I wonder if Jackson Hastings is actually any good.
Maloney was our best half for the 3 seasons he was with us and I fear that we are going to miss him immensely.
I guess only time will tell and I hope for the best but I am concerned.
    What do you think?

You should already know Pearce isn't a world beater ???? So much pressure on SoH, yes our halves are a concen.

Watch for the club to lose patience ala Anasta and look to move Pearce along if things turn to poo over the next season or two.

My preference would be start Hastings at half and move Pearce to 5/8th and see if he can get his old running game from his youth

Tough season... I think we're looking to replace a lot of key players with younger, cheaper players.

It'll either work brilliantly or not at all IMO. To me it all seems like we're saving money for something though? (Or we are flat broke in terms of the salary cap).

I supported Pearce for years but after last year I'm sceptical. He finished 2014 so well but went backwards last year. Now I just can't see him getting any better.

We've got Andrew John's as our halves coach so at least they'll be "primed" for the games.

                Chook.

To be fair he was injured during the finals so couldn't step up...

I was a big fan of Maloney at the club. The brains in the halves combo. Great kicker as well. The Sharks have got a good one now

What about the 24 odd games he played for us prior to his injury. He's just not getting better. Compared to what he did late 2014, he went backwards.
I will continue to support him but I just think he's not going to get better.

I think friend was in the same boat last year. Hopefully a full off season is the key to getting his form back.

It is a pity that James "Jimmy" Maloney could not step up when we needed him the most.

I'm a fan of Pearce but he needs to be at 2014 level next year. With Johns helping it could happen.

My first choice would've been Maloney and Hoju.
