  • 2017 - Pearce out, Nikorima in?

Well that is what Andrew Webster is claiming in the SMH today. I don't know about Nikorima's credentials to become our no. 7 but surely Pearce is running out of time. I like him and have been a supporter. However, in high pressure situations he has continually failed and with his age and experience he has still not developed an intelligent kicking game. Honestly, I don't think he has or will ever recover from Thurston tearing him a new asshole and humiliating him in Origin.

Has Nikorima even made his FG debut yet?

I don't think so. To be honest I have never seen him play at all. Peace has his moments but it is hard to deny his repeated failures. Maybe he will kill it in 2016.

When pearce is hot, he's hot. But when he's cold, well, we all know how that goes - under the radar. I don't see a kid who hasn't even played a second of first grade, ousting the captain after only one season. Rubbish journo whoever wrote that.

With HoJu as the other half there's gonna be a lot of pressure on Pearce. Hopefully this will bring out his best performances. If he can get back to his 2014 form he'll be the best half in the comp

I have not seen Jayden Nikorima play before so I have no comment on whether he has the potential to become our starting halfback in the future however I believe it would take an incredible season from Jackson "Horrie Junior" Hastings for this to be possible as I do not believe that Trent "Robbo" Robinson would go for a halves combination that could potentially have less than 50 first grade appearances combined while signing rumored star players such as Sonny Bill Williams and Jarryd "The Hayne Plane" Hayne. It could well be possible that Mitchell "Junior Junior" Pearce is not re-signed when his contract is up heading in to season 2018 but I believe he will be with our club in season 2017.

I am excited to see the next group of young players make their way in to the team and take the reigns and I would like to see if Jackson Hastings and Jayden Nikorima could work as a combination.

                    Nikorima is a special,

yet to play first grade & I have him better than Pearce already.

Typical kiwi out of the shadows of his older but no less talented brother.

A tough yet smart player who knows he has the pace. I hope he makes our 9's.

I predict him as our regular bench utility this season.

I've lost count of how many halves were meant to replace Mitchell Pearce over the course of his career.

I'm tipping Connor Watson or Luke Keary to be the next.

BAW, a string of high maintenance partners and a marriage split has you looking a little thin. Is FoxSports feeding you well?

I know it doesn't always show or reflect the whole game, but it would be interesting to know how many MOTM performances pearce has gotten over the past 3 yrs in comparison to the rest of the team. We have had a very rounded team for a few years now, which means it is not only one player that truly stands out, but it would be a nice thing to know.

Yeah I love that... guy who isn't even up to NRL standard yet punts the incumbent NSW half. Sure mate :P
