might end up being a very wise decision by the club to rest the majority of our stars, seems there are some major concerns about the state of the Eden Park surface which hosted the Aust/NZ cricket one dayer on Wednesday.

certainly going to be a very hard surface for the players but the biggest problem is if the rain comes as expected and the field turns into an ice rink.

True Fletch but Robbo has decided to throw a few rookies into the deep end in the hope we unearth a player or 2 that can play a big role in his 2016 campaign..

and did it ever occur to you that maybe Nikorima isn't going because he is the only halfback at the club who would be available for round 1? How stupid would it be to take him to the nine's and see him suffer an injury? Did you ever think that through? A WHOPPING $1 million bonus will be given to this year’s Auckland Nines winner should a bold proposal — to reward the Nines/NRL premiership double — be given the green light.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal Duco Events, who runs the Nines in conjunction with the NRL, is keen to offer up the staggering cash bounty from as early as this weekend.
Designed to bring even more hype to the Eden Park carnival, the seven-figure sum would be gifted to the Nines champion should they also go on to win the NRL Grand Final in October.
It’s understood Duco, who is willing to fund the entire prize, have put the proposal to the NRL. The company is hoping for the deal to be signed off for either this year or next.

Certainly, the cash bonus would encourage clubs to send their strongest side to Auckland and challenge for the Nines title.

Ironically, the Nines winners from the past two years — South Sydney and North Queensland — have also won both NRL premierships in that same period.
However, North Queensland won the Nines in 2014 and the NRL Grand Final last year while the Bunnies did the reverse, claiming their NRL title before going on to win the shortened competition the following summer.

think its a great idea, no surprise it didn't come directly from the NRL

$1 million goes a long way in terms of sports science/gym equipment etc.

if this is approved clubs would be mad not to chase the prize.

Shit: dogs roosters.

Bad: manly knights tigers dragons raiders

Good: broncos souths eels storm sharks titans

Great: warriors cows panthers.

Thanks for the analysis and thoughts. I love a punt as much as most but must admit the 9s scares me a bit as not all teams bring the same level if intensity and results can be unpredictable.

I think the warriors and panthers have the strongest sides. Considering half the teams aren't taking the comp serious 4/1 on a warriors win and 10+/1 on the panthers are both great options to me.

Unfortunately the TAB only has the first round of 8 games up and won't put the 2nd round up until the first round is almost finished. How annoying,but anyway I took cows warriors Penrith Cronulla into Carolina -5.5/ over 45 at 3.40 to kick it along. 20 pays 213.

Nice bet. I took souths, cows, warriors Penrith for a larger amount at 3.91. Hoping to see Denver get up over Carolina. Just depends whether Newton can handle the big dance as you know Peyton will.
