  • That field goal summarised Anasta as a player. Always put himself ahead of the team.

Nice to see Lattrell in open space. He made it look pretty easy.

Who was no.16? Nathan Smith from Wyong? Looks like a great depth player.

    • Loving the nines. So happy to be watching footy again and seeing the young kids Latrell and Manu on show. So much natural talent I hope they have the drive.

Also good to boo the perpetual Roosters villains - Selfish Braith and Sean Kenny-Dumb...both never fail to deliver on their reputations.

      • To think that SKD is one of most experienced players out there. Still can't tackle and keeps on keeping on with dumb plays. Bring on the haters lol.

          • We were the better side in both games and lost in poor circumstances in the last minute.

              • will be interesting to see which of the youngsters Robbo takes to the UK with him because its probably unlikely SKD plays in the game due to his court case which starts a couple of days after the WCC series match.

I think Mitchell has shown enough to be in the 17 against St Helens.

I have no idea who starts at right centre in that WCC match if Robbo sticks with his Fergo at fullback experiment, because Maubs will be required in the backrow with Cordner out.

                    So is Ferguson.

He's the best of a pretty poor set of options afaic.

What's this obsession with taking players who show promise in the three quarters and putting them at fullback? If you had any knowledge of rugby league or even sport to any degree you would know that you would never put a rookie into a position he didn't play, especially a pivotal position like fullback. It would absolute destroy his confidence. Let him play some games for Wyong in the Centre's and see how he holds up there. I thought from what I saw last season he was a great shot of replacing Jennings in 2017, he might have to do it a little sooner.

Mitchell's try was good but is anyone concerned that he appears a little overweight and out of condition after what should have been a couple months of intensive fitness training. I don't think he has the miles in his legs to play first grade for a while yet. Whilst I think Omar is a plodder, he would be a better alternative in an emergency situation at least early in the season.

Joey Manu has to go over there, nothing to lose and does not lack confidence.

Can you name another player who's shown promise in the 3/4's who I've said should play fullback?

I can't remember ever doing so. In fact I've been against all suggestions to play players like Burgess, SKD, Jennings & Ferguson at fullback.

And Joey Manu has played fullback in his juniors, he also played there for the junior kiwis at one point and was excellent. Centre is definitely his most comfortable position and I don't think fullback is a long term position for him but I think he's more ready for grade than Latrell Mitchell and more suited to the role than Blake Ferguson.
