We all know how much juggling clubs have to do to cope with this draconian rule.
Losing Maloney, and Jennings a year earlier is a case in point.
Main problem is constantly upgrading contracts for players who have come through the ranks and expect to be paid accordingly when their star is on the rise.
But what about when the boot is on the other foot?
What about players who have earned top dollar for years, and have devalued themselves?
Wouldn't it be nice if the odd senior player strode into uncle's office and said, " For the good of the team I realise that my contract should be reduced now, and I'm very sorry".
One way of earning respect off the important people, the fans.
Works for me.
Alas the title of this thread is a dead give away that I'm working on a children's book.
One of those fables with a moral lesson.
Not like Wacky Wednesday.
