  • Mr Pearce and the Salary cap.

We all know how much juggling clubs have to do to cope with this draconian rule.
Losing Maloney, and Jennings a year earlier is a case in point.

Main problem is constantly upgrading contracts for players who have come through the ranks and expect to be paid accordingly when their star is on the rise.
But what about when the boot is on the other foot?
What about players who have earned top dollar for years, and have devalued themselves?
Wouldn't it be nice if the odd senior player strode into uncle's office and said, " For the good of the team I realise that my contract should be reduced now, and I'm very sorry".
One way of earning respect off the important people, the fans.
    Works for me.

Alas the title of this thread is a dead give away that I'm working on a children's book.
One of those fables with a moral lesson.

Without knowing ins and outs of it all it does have implications for our long serving contract money. Not to mention if he is dumped he is on massive $$$

no doubt a big lump of cap money is spent on pearce, might even be timely to reduce his contract or back end it?

Couldn't imagine myself or anyone I know walking into work and saying I deserve a pay cut because I've been in holiday mode since October..

Maybe if you were facing the sack and could not work in your city of choice anymore?

I don't know why people continually make comparisons to nrl players and the real world.

For example, I couldn't imagine myself or anyone I know signing a work contract that was back-ended after two years , and carried the understanding that I would be sacked when I'm 31 for being too old.

And it would be awkward for a manager to have to drag himself to the factory floor to explain that the company has exceeded the salary cap and must start laying off.

Please buy my book if it gets published.
