  • Justin Carney in the centres

was surprised to see that move by Smith, but in saying that, it looked like a GOOD MOVE !

he played very well, was strong in defence and when he could he took on his opposite.

Great work Beachball, Looks alot more comfortable in at centre.

he actually is a centre its just because the raiders and us have had established centres that he has been forced to play on the wing. Hes a good player and definitely a keeper. Linnett, SKD, Perrett, Leilua, J-Carney should all be retained from here on. Imo we dont need a centre. A fullback replacement for mini if and when he is ready will do me. That and maybe a winger with some toe like oldfield or maybe even one of the titans outside backs like mead, gordon or micheals considering the sorts of signings they have been making

I dont like him. A terrible recruitment decision by smith to go with riddell and watts.

Youre wrong there. Riddell and Watts yes...terrible. But I reckon The Michelin man can get better. he looked handy yesterday.

          I agree.

I thought he was hopeless in defence yesterday.

Imagine him up against Gasnier, Tonga or Hodges.

I really like the move of Carney to the centres,he looked good with limited chances yesterday.
He held his own defensively also,my only issue was he didnt get any ball in a sweeping backline movement.
Im hoping when Pearce and Carney are back together,J.Carney will get more ball with some space infront of him, then we will see his best!
            Definite keeper!

He got stood up by Wes Alphabet a bunch of times and sometimes where Wes was off a standing start. I though he looked by far the most suspect point in the defensive line.

That dummy half run on the fifth was an absolute coach killer too.

Not to sure about that Muz.

He's deadset useless in D and he is rather ineffective in attack - only made 75 metres yesterday.

But I put that down to Smith using him in the wrong role...JC should play like Sammy P does - get into dummy half and wriggle out of tackles, rather than be used as a wrecking ball. He's stocky, but not tall enough to be effective in that department.

Good signing though...he's a quality prospect.

The attack for JC will come, like it does with SKD, get the early ball to him and we have a quality prospect turning into a star.

I think i posted the stats in another thread, but he made 20 tackles, missing 3, not bad considering it was his first game in at centre after playing wing for so long and also helping cover Naugton. The knights targeted that side and the inexperience of our winger.

With time, he will come good.

We have put up with SKD's atrocious defending for years. WTF he moved off his player yesterday is beyond me when BJ was positioned for the wing.

Carney is one of our better defending backs. He cut Gaz in half twice. I'd say only Linnett is better of Mini, Naughton, Perrett, SKD, BJ.

What a load of rubbish. He absolutely belted Gasnier in defense.

Mate he got stood up by Wes Naiqama at least twice yesterday. Naiqama bombed a try on one occasion when his flick pass went into touch. Otherwise the winger was off with support looming. Would have changed the game completely.

It's different when they run straight at you or you rush up and put a hit on.

His lateral movement in defence is very slow.

But hey, you're happy with him there. That's a load of rubbish in my eyes.

To be fair, i think youll find when you watch a replay of that movement it was partly Anasta's fault who was very slow to get back into line and left a large overlap that caused the defensive mishap

100%. Captain 5/7th was out of position.
