    Injury update from the Roosters official site;
    23/05/2011 11:57:30 AM
The club received further bad news on the injury front after yesterday’s match against the Knights.

Young prop Lama Tasi fractured his ankle in two places and despite bravely returning to the field in the second half will now be out of action for six weeks.

Tom Symonds is visiting his specialist this week and is a chance to be available for selection for this weekend’s match against the Cowboys.

Ah that is bad news. Geez we are not having much luck with injuries. I agree with Mothballs though - how tough do you have to be to come back out and play on a fractured ankle??

I couldn't even put weight on my ankle when I twisted it a few weeks back, the adrenalin only does so much.

Tasi sounds like one tough bastard.

it was quite funny, at the post match preso, lama was walking around in one of those boot devices and when interviewed, we were told he received 2 needles at the half.

I also found out after that smith made a call during the 2nd half. "tell tasi to get in the game or he is off"

It is amazing how cut throat league can be, players asked to stretch their bodies to the limit, not knowing what real damage they can be doing to them selves.

Luckily for Lama, the injury did not get worse while he played on.

Poor management if he was allowed to go back on with 2 needles if he had a suspected fracture.

i don't think they suspected a fracture in the first place, even if they did take him for xrays, there is no guarantee they would have been able to see the fractures at that time, either due to their location or size.

All the more reason to look after him.

The replacement rules need to be looked at so players are not forced to play with suspected serious injuries.

                      5 man bench?

                      15 interchanges?

Concessions for injuries is something the NRL (or independant commission) need to have a good look at. Its going to be hard to find rules that are fair while not being able to be manipulated by coaches.

Also, having a bloke ruled out for the season before round 1 still count in your salary cap is also a joke.

We were very lucky last season with injuries.

This season we are copping it in spades.

Tasi had that ankle strapped up pretty solid when he took the boot off yesterday in the first place. I'm sure medical staff thought his pain had something to do with the previous injury as they'd be pretty liable/stupid if they sent him out suspecting a fracture.
