  • 6-6

At the half way point of the 2015 NRL season we sat 6-6 (6 wins & 6 losses) and still managed to finished minor premiers.

I don't think we can repeat the highs of 2015 by going 12 wins straight to finish off the season but I reckon given our current predicament with Boyd & JWH due to return around the halfway mark it's a pretty good place and indicator to be halfway through this season and definitely gives us the opportunity to push for a top 6 spot which would mean at least 1 guaranteed home final.

Fair play. If we are 6-4 after ten rounds. I for one will be super happy. I'd even accept 5-5 after 10 as a good start.

With the amount of outs we have already, i think we could be very lucky to be 4-8 after 12 rounds. I've counted wins v titans, knights and tigers, with a maybe win v dragons on anzac day. Our pack without cords and jwh, and a very inexperienced backline will make it a miracle if we get any more.

If we don't lose any more forwards we will do 6-6 or better.

Napa and Evans are going to be even better this year , I dont think SST could get any better , he was awesome last year.
Sam Moa will lead from the front if his knee holds out.

Hastings will be a revelation at 7.

I'm still feeling optimistic , but number 6 and 1 are my only worries.
Fergo will be great if he stays injury free , but I'd like us to just throw Mitchell in at 1 and I think he can do it.
so leaves 6........ and I have no idea on the options , I haven't really seen them play.

I think our backs are great , I'd like to see Elliot get more games , then I'm really excited by Manu and Burgess.
SKD and Toups need to muscle up , play well or they will playing for Wyong.

So bring it on , I think we will do OK.

          Sod the minor premiership.

I just hope we've learnt from the previous 2 seasons and play our best footy when it counts.

The Fergo/Latrell Mitchell situation is interesting, especially when you remember that Trent Robinson was at the club in 2010 when we last experimented with a fullback who was already an established first grader in another position - Todd Carney.

Anthony Minichiello played on the wing after coming back from numerous injury set backs and was made to show he could still handle first grade. Could this possibly be the plan with Mitchell?

It wasn't until Round 14 that Todd Carney finally made the full-time switch to the halves at which point we ironically sat 6-6 at which point our season really started to take off. We finished the season 8-4 and finished with a top 6 spot.

I just wonder if Robbo is contemplating a similar run this year. Giving Mitchell some exposure to first grade before blooding him at fullback & giving Ferguson more exposure and expanding his skill set by getting him to fill in at fullback.

I think you're pretty much on the money. I think we will have some good victories but also some blow outs we haven't seen in years. I think the stats of not losing games by double figures over the last 3 years would be amazing.

The fill in versus the heir apparent ?
When the plane realises that gridiron isn't a sport., we got two years for Latrell to prove himself on the wing?

If we can make the 8 and have a solid showing in the finals, it'll be better than our past 2 fizzles where we have done the opposite.

Don't rule out Latrell, Copley and Hastings gaining confidence as the season goes on. Coming into bye rounds we'll get the morale boost of Cords and JWH coming back fully healed.

IMO coming 7th during a tough year, beating 2 teams and then losing in a close contest during the preliminary final would be a lot more acceptable than coming first, losing an easy beat game, beating a bunch of dead beats then switching off against a team we shoulda beaten in the preliminary final. Just saying...

I would be staggered if we make the finals.

I would be extremely disappointed if we didn't make the 8 as we still have a very competitive team, barring injuries/suspensions.
As Robbo recently stated, there are always high expectations as we are the Roosters!!!

nothing wrong with jnr horries confidence. remember he playe the end of last year when pearce was out. he is match ready. cornish will be next to him. so many ride off cornish, but i believe he has been in our system for a reason. he has been here for years and he does possess a talent. Niko will rotate with jake as the year goes on. Boyd will be out and mr fix it maubs will do what he does best.

If anyone could be bothered to check there have been threads like this for the last three years where supporters thought we would finish anywhere from minor premiers to 10th place. Its hard to be positive at the moment but the season is long. Any team that makes the finals and begins to peak around the right time has a chance to go deep into the finals. If we are close enough you never know what could happen but it would seem we are likely to go backwards a bit this year.

A lot of opinion seems based on the fact that fergo won't kill it at fullback. I don't agree that you can be considered one of the best centres in the game and also a shocking fullback. His performances there in the past might not have been first class, but with a whole off season there he will improve. Fergo is a very instinctual player. He's a genuine footballer and not a body type player as many first graders are now. If Ferguson blitzes it at fullback, what would we think about our chances then? We still might not be at the top.. But when jwh, cords and Pearce come back our roster looks very strong again. Who knows what could happen if luck and injuries go our way. I'm still excited about this season.
