  • Coaching director crap

Talking about coaching directors this and that, him and that other bloke is plain wrong.
We do not need a coaching director or mega lord or overseer or what ever, The Roosters need a coach, FULL STOP.

Be it Noble, Lang, Sheens or whoever, just get someone that has an idea and let them run the show. Clean it all out, Ronnie, Freddy the lot. Thanks for some great memories but its time to move on.

We need a coach true.. But sacking Fittler would also need to be avoided.. From the sound of what he has recently said Fittler wants to continue..

Its a sad thing, but hey he just isn't up to it.
Just because he wants to doesn't mean the club has to let him

The last premiership we won,we had had Phil Gould as coaching director,R Stuart coach,D Pay and J Cartwright as assistant coachs.Souffs were struggling last season until they bought in J Lang as a coach director and on last look they are now in the top 8.

          and all that means jack.
Stuart had proven he could coach, even though it was lower grades. His assistants had a clue.
Jason Taylor had improved Souths and rid the old culture and now with Lang they have improved even more.
The fact that Fitler and his cohort have absolutely no idea means simply getting a coaching director in will do bugger all

Stuart had coached for one year at the Bulldogs SG Ball team in 2001 before joining us in 2002.Hardly a proven coaching record. And hasn`t Stuart been a great coach without a director working with him throughout the last 5 years.Souffs improvement just happened to co-incide within the fortnight of Langs arrival at Redfern round 15 last year whilst running second last. Fact is Nick Politis IS looking at getting someone into help Freddy in a director role.Fact is he is waying up 3 possible candidates as we speak, then if it fails you can sprout your "bugger all" cry!

Stuart had one year and won a premiership, yes lower grades but some sucess and obviously knew what was going on.
Taylor had alot more experience as an assistant coach at Parramatta. Read what I said about Lang arriving at souths.

The real fact is the only thing Politis is looking at is himself in a mirror.

Just because Freddy is a legend of the club as a player, he needs to be judged on his success as a coach now. One door opens and another closes. Get a new coach, give Freddy an assistant role and get the team back on track. The reputation of one man is of far less value than a whole football team and their supporters.

reads to me that Freddy will be getting someone with experience to help him - I personally think it will be Sheens

                  Greg Prichard | May 20, 2009

SYDNEY Roosters boss Nick Politis has reacted to speculation about Brad Fittler's future by saying he will give the former star player every chance to succeed as coach without having to fear the club is lining up a replacement.

"We've got no one else in mind," Politis said yesterday. "We want 'Freddie' to succeed and we're going to give him the time and space to do that. We're hoping he can turn things around, so we'll see what happens over the next couple of months."

Politis, a representative of the ARL on the NRL partnership committee and one of the heaviest hitters in the game, has not hesitated to sack coaches in the past.

And with the Roosters having won three games and lost seven and struggling in second-last place, it is only natural people have wondered aloud whether Fittler will get another contract after this season.

But the Roosters chairman said Fittler's 14-year involvement at the club, which began as a player in 1996, had earned him the right to try to prove he was the man to lead the club into the future.

"Freddie has been on the club's payroll for a long time," Politis said. "After he stopped playing he joined the coaching staff and now he's the head coach. The guy is a legend. He's more popular with the fans than the players. It counts for a lot to be Brad Fittler at this club."

The rumour mill has thrown up Melbourne assistant coaches Stephen Kearney and Michael Maguire among potential candidates to replace Fittler, if the Roosters decide to make a change at the end of the season. There have also been suggestions that a veteran coach might be added to the staff if Fittler remains, to give him someone experienced to bounce ideas off. Former Great Britain coach Brian Noble has been mentioned as a possibility.

Politis said Noble was not on the club's radar, but that someone else might be used because he thought the concept had merit.

Contacted yesterday, Fittler said he would prefer to get on with coaching and let the club make a judgment call on him at the appropriate time. The Roosters will play Penrith at CUA Stadium on Saturday night.

"I reckon we're a good chance of winning this week," Fittler said. "I'm going to turn up at work tomorrow and keep preparing for the game. The rest of the stuff I'm going to leave to the club."

What's so good about Sheens. His teams have made the finals once in the last twelve years. Before that he had a Canberra team that could have coached themselves.
