Who is our backup goalkicker after Hastings?

Someone said Niko kicks as well? Is this true and if so what is his success rate?

So far his success rate is 0 from 0 in the top grade. I hope he can kick goals.

Both Cordner and SKD must have kicked plenty at junior level and bang them over at training but they have both been rubbish when kicking in the top grade when given the opportunity.

We have been so spoilt having Fitzy and Jimmy kicking goals for us over the years...

Latrell kicks for the 20's with good accuracy.

SST was Junior Warriors full time goal kicker in 2011 I think it was.

I seriously can't see why so many 1st graders can't kick to save themselves. Not saying I can curl the ball sweetly and stuff but when I worked as a PE teacher, kids regularly challenged me to convert from the sideline (something most of them could at least have a serious attempt at doing). I didn't always nail it, but I'd always be able to get the distance and get close.

Surely anybody who is NRL grade should know the basics down pat? It's one of those things you do as a kid while mucking about with a footy. I'm always amazed by how pathetic Pearce is at kicking (being a 1st grade and origin half). Sorta assumed that without practice he'd still be darn good.

SKD, Cords, Niko, Fergo, Latrell and apparently SST are all backups.

Being able to kick a goal in muck around, is different to when two points can win or lose you a match.

              I see you point though.

Until Hastings proves his kicking is worth backing, all the boys getting over for tries should do their best to improve the angles. On style, I saw Hastings' has a more 'straight on' style whereby he, unlike most kickers, doesn't take two or three biggish steps to his left or right once he has gone back. Not that I'm an expert but keep an eye on Hastings' head when he's converting. If he is clam and in control, his head will remain over the ball and his chin will not raise until well after he has kicked the ball; much like a golf swing. Maloney was very good at following the exact same steps and kept his head down.

FWIW, one of the greatest goal-kickers of the modern era is also our halves coach. I've got no doubt he covers off on all aspects of kicking.

Be interesting to see how much value he adds. Also... be interesting to see whether he was a factor in Nikorima signing (i.e. even I don't get a game, I'll be coached by Joey Johns... he's a better halves coach than Wayne).

I like us having a good 'club'. While I'm talking out of my bum here, I think that with the salary cap you need to value add rather than throw bags of cash at people.
