Of course it was an attempt at extortion. Even is SKD is guilty and she is a victim she still went for compensation over justice. I think it tells you a lot about the woman. She didn't say I have been wronged and I will have this man put away so he can not hurt me or anyone else in the future. She saw the opportunity to make money. Honestly, her mother is a senator. The letter was poorly written and full of grammatical errors but I don't think it is too difficult to read the underlying message as intended by the author of the letter.

Not everyone is as ignorant as you regarding her family. Just because you know nothing does not mean everyone else knows nothing. You might want to do some research before you post in future.

I may well be hung, drawn and quartered verbally for saying this. I'm waiting for the outcome of the case before I say a thing about the innocence or guilt of Shaun. My reasoning is that they would not have proceeded to trial without evidence that was compelling.

You even said the club should've paid up to avoid the risk of a conviction and the end of a players career.
Trouble is , it doesn't end there . As JT pointed out, they keep coming back to the well.
Forget the media (although we don't rely on them to assess the character of the mother) , our club backed SKD to defend himself against the allegations.I'm sure there is a lot of smart people in the joint who know where SKD's morals are at, and the type of bloke he is.

Wtf do you know about her mother's finances. I work with a lot of indigenous people in very well paying jobs who are flat broke because they give all their money to less well off family members and their community.

I just don't think you are really thinking this through. She walks in and says Shaun bashed me and was abusive in our relationship. The club asks Shaun and he denies the claims completely, why should the club be overly concerned with the welfare of a devious lying, manipulative human being who is happy to slander one of the clubs representatives? How would Shaun feel knowing the club is propping her up based on her lies? You think he might feel let down? What has been written so far is the tip of the iceberg. The club did the right thing by Shaun to say no.

Perhaps I'm bias having worked in the justice and social services systems in south West Sydney the past ten years with many indigenous and other marginalise communities and victims of domestic violence. And having spent the previous 8 years prior to that studying to get there. I wouldn't assume the letter is bullshit. Time will tell anyway as everything is starting to come out in court.

For my sins I ended up being a lawyer. Not of the criminal persuasion but of the civil (commercial litigation) inclined. On the basks of what's been reported my two cents worth is that it is suffice to say things are not going swimmingly for Ms Perris. Her credibility was severely damaged today. If this is a matter capable of being heard summarily, which I understand it is, the adverse inferences drawn today would all, almost exclusively, go against Ms Perris. The onus is on the prosecutors to satisfy the Magistrate, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Mr Kenny-Dowall is guilty as charged.

In the absence of any other witnesses being called by either side, I can't see how the charges can be made out. Tomorrow will be telling.

I stated that I believed it to be unlikely for her to drag a fictitious case to the court as she herself is an athlete (perhaps aspiring) with a profile and belongs to a very high profile indigenous family. If she were to drag him to court on a lie, it would be exposed and she would stand to lose as much as skd if proven guilty. What can't you grasp about that?

I would never suggest the roosters give in to extortion attempt. Don't pretend to have inside knowledge. For all we know everything she has said is truth. As she mentioned the roosters and the nrl are partnered with a domestic violence organisation and IF she was a victim of domestic violence then the nrl and the roosters do have a duty of care to her as the perpetrator is an employee. It would be hypocritical to turn her away on her own if it's true.

But again, surely you're intelligent enough to be able to work these scenarios through your head. And that's what they are hypothetical scenarios. I'm just stating them as everything is not always as black and white as the forum may state. She tried to have her ex done on a plethora of charges the only one sticking was the malicious damage one and the magistrate commended her ex on his considerable restraint after an attack by her on him during one argument.
