  • you would hope a lot of our players learnt some lessons from the whole Pearce incident.

I also hope the club read the riot act to the whole playing group making it clear any drug related incidents result in their contracts being torn up on the spot.

SKDs comment was very vague and could have meant anything. However, it doesn't look good. Honestly, no matter what the magistrate rules SKD is not coming out of this untainted. He certainly has been involved in some stupid shit.
Is this the text messages from the person who wanted to end Pearce's career? you are talking about?

        Years gone by lol.

        • Yeah I guess we shouldn't really speculate but where there is smoke ...

I'm not necessarily an anti-drugs guy at all but I would hate to think we are not the best team we could be due to our players using drugs (and alcohol).

I couldn't care less if the players rack up all off season providing they don't get caught. But come pre season and regular season they should be off it all and focussing on getting their bodies right and winning.

Mate you can't do that shit and be in peak physical condition. I have a huge problem with it.

Brilliant post , summed it up.
That's something I never thought I'd type in response to you.

Deleted it rather than be lazy to make people go back a page if they skipped over it.
Well , that and the fact this thread is so long.

In the off season they can do what they like. Pre season they can get into shape. I'd be happier if they all stayed off the grog during the season.

                  • SKD went down for questioning and was thrown in a cell for six hours without any contact. When they opened the cell he ran for his life. What followed was a posse of cops looking to find him to arrest him and a posse of people who cared about him searching the gap.

Bingo... particularly with elite sports where recovery is soooo important. After every session you need to recover. At this level it's all about small percentage performance gains... even something like getting maggot after a session (instead of going home, using ice, stretching, having the right meal, resting appropriately...etc) can put all of the advanced sports science out of whack.

Seriously... some scientist comes in and says 'you will recover 3% faster if you do this', we pay him millions and then some player's smoking, drinking and doing drugs... the advantage we've paid for goes out the door to the point where they might as well not bother with it.

Be ironic if Fergo was our 'good guy'. We need SBW to come back and whip us all into good habits again.

Edit: this isn't about my personal views on drugs. It's about me wanting to see Easts win a premiership. If Sam Burgess has been off training and preventing injuries through discipline and we're the whipping boys because we lack basic discipline then I'll be pretty angry.

                              100%

Apparently one female cop was feral.

A smashed phone and picture frame.

Testimony by a proven attempted extortionist and concocter of false domestic abuse allegations against a previous partner (whom she assaulted, and whom the judge in that case praised for not hitting her back).

The defendant enduring 6 months of condemnation and public vilification by a bloodthirsty press, the Premier of NSW and every political agenda group under the sun.

The Prosecution's only hope of conviction (and always was) is that the judge is fearful of being seen as silently supporting DV and discouraging victims making police reports, should he do the right thing and throw this wretched case in the toilet where it belongs (along with Ms Peris)
                                The way I see it:
                                - he's confessed to a battery causing actual bodily harm (grabbing the arm causing bruising). He's using the defence of what... aggravation is a BS defence that will never get you over the line when you have confessed to battering a woman. Self defence? Did he really need to use that much force? I dunno...
                                - assault... he confessed to punching a wall hard enough to bust up his hand. Scary? Maybe...
                                - property damage (breaking the phone)

I haven't seen what points of law were argued (or how... and I'm not a judge). However, making confessions and then going on the stand to argue them isn't ideal.
