He didn't murder anyone guys. Sure we would expect more from our captain. Guess what? He isn't our captain anymore. I was outraged inititially but have moved on. I think it is time for others to move on too. What did he really do except for making a fool out of himself and acting irresponsibly and not in line with his role of captain. Again, he has paid the price for that. What will it take for some to be satisfied? Do you want the guy to retire from NRL and become a monk? Perhaps you would prefer he left the county. Enough is enough. Build a bridge, get over it.

The Sydney Roosters and the NRL remain at loggerheads over a punishment for Mitchell Pearce following a meeting at Moore Park headquarters on Wednesday morning.
Roosters chairman Nick Politis and CEO John Lee left the meeting with no solution to the disagreement over the length of Pearce’s suspension for his misbehaviour on Australia Day.
Sources say the meeting became heated on several occasions.
Trent Robinson and Nick Politis are calling for a short suspension. The Roosters argued that three to four weeks was a sufficient penalty given that Pearce missed the World Club Challenge game against St Helens, the Nines and had been stripped of the captaincy.
The NRL will not budge from 10 to 12 weeks minimum, considering the amount of negative publicity the incident attracted and also Pearce’s prior indiscretions.
The Roosters have previously threatened to take legal action if they can’t reach a satisfactory solution. Making the matter more difficult for the NRL is that Pearce’s father is on the independent commission.

Hence why he is no longer our captain. I agree with the reasoning that he should have shown more leadership, but to say that the worst things is that he co-erced two 'young players' to joining him is a long stretch when we don't know who led who.

When I first heard of the incident I thought he had to be sacked because Carney's situation was similar. However, Carney is suing the Sharks for wrongful dismissal. If he is successful, then where does that leave the Pearce situation? There is so much inconsistency and it's usually media driven. If the media aren't involved, the NRL don't seem to care much.

If the club is going to the mattresses with the NRL over Mitchell Pearce then he had better turn into Jesus Christ, Buddha, that other guy with the image problem, Brad Fittler, Dally Messenger and Kurt Sherlock all rolled into one.SUPER DRAGON!

Pearce hurt the image of the NRL so of course they are pissed off & want a large (probably ridiculous) penalty, but Uncle Nick has been playing this game since '76..
I can see a compromise at 6-8 weeks, but my person opinion is that he should get 4 weeks (allows him to have a mini-pre-season) and then come back into the team as the bench utility..

Surely that grub Greenberg isn't behind giving Pearce a lengthy suspension? He lied and bullshitted his way through a press conference telling us in riddles that Barba had a problem. He knew what he did, but covered up.
The dogs lost 2 in a row early in the season, and Barba was rushed back. He missed 3 weeks for something a lot worse than what Pearce did.

So where's the war? Weren't the Roosters headed for the courts if a sufficient penalty couldn't be agreed upon? The NRL's stance of a minimum of 11 weeks and a very likely 12 week suspension of Pearce hardly suggests an 'amicable settlement' can be reached does it?"The only time you start at the top is when you are digging a hole."
