  • Mitchell on NRL 360

It was a raw and real interview with Kent and Ikin tonight... You need to see it.

I've no doubt he is genuinely contrite and he seemed like a layer of superficiality had been stripped away.

    It was pretty powerful stuff.

I've stated I hope he moves on somewhere else simply because I think he is a limited footy player in the most crucial position in the team and consequently we under achieve.

But bugger that for now...I'm softening and hope he gets back now and plays the house down. He has been unfairly crucified in this matter.

Best of luck to him from here.

Good post and I agree. Hope Hastings and Nikorima kill it though and he does move on at the end of the year.

      I concur.
He spoke a lot better than he has in the past, but I doubt he went to Thailand for English lessons.
      good luck to him.
I'd love to retract everything I've said about him at seasons end if kills it on field, but I just can't see it happening.
A change in scenery might be the best thing for his career at this point.

+1 for the PR team. I'm sick of this guy being paraded around in front of the world. I'm sure that deep, deep down he knows he doesn't deserve what is happening. But I doubt he has a say in the matter.

Give him alot of credit for facing the media on so many occasions, can't think of too many players who keep having to give public apologies on so many different media fronts.

              Forgive me for being cynical

it smacks of a highly orchestrated PR exercise

he wouldn't have done this off his own volition

please I need a box of tissues

Of course it is orchestrated. We are a professional Club who have acted in text book fashion. But that's the world we live in now. And it doesn't mean Pearce is not genuine. I would rather have that than the response of basket case Clubs like West Tigers or Parramatta.

Society changes its tune so quick. First they want to hang ppl, then after a little contrition most back peddle. Just look at the comments in this thread for proof of that.

We are trying to get the least suspension we can. That's what NRL clubs do. Personally I think Pearce is an idiot and an average player, so 12 weeks wouldn't bother me. But I tell you what, there are so many ppl out there that think Pearce did nothing wrong but act the clown. A lot of my friends (who don't follow nrl) think the whole thing is a stitch up and the videoers are the only ones who should be charged.

I don't agree with that coz of the hurt he has caused to our club. But there are many who just want everyone to move on.

Pearce is not a bad person. Pearce needs to be & will be back in the side ASAP. Robbo is his biggest fan.
Pearces biggest hurdle is going to be that women on the NRL's women of League committee who wants Pearce put out of the game permanently. She is making plenty of noise about how she has full faith in the NRL coming down very hard on him.

True but he is also worried about his career, sponsors and his big $$$$. You would do it, if it means everything could be gone

Reminds me of the book sonny ball in which sonny bill said that one of the key reasons he left the bulldogs was because Steve folks and the bulldogs PR machine made him apologise for something he didn't actually feel sorry for. He felt humiliated by being paraded in front of the media and misrepresenting himself.

Pearce is obviously a clown, but he has been publicly humiliated, his family the same, and his career threatened, so i'd be surprised if he wasn't suitably chastened by what he has done, and the consequences of said actions..

Mitch has always been a player that frustrates me, but i don't hate the guy, or want to see him over-penalized for his mistake..

When Pearce talked about the Rooster's culture and Kent laughed a bit, Pearce took offence and stated he had let down the culture.. That's was the best part of the interview.

The media have a field day with him after the event even though he has committed no crime.
He goes to Thailand for rehab and the media get on his back for leaving the country to avoid facing the music.
He comes back and gives an interview to whoever wants a bit more of him and repeatedly apologises and that is because it is all orchestrated.
FMD whatever he does some flog is going to have a go at him.

And the media made the choice to pay for and air that footage over and over again.
