  • Dear Premier - RE: SKD

So I wrote to our beloved Premier re: his views on SKD. See below, starts with my first letter, followed by their response and finally my response.
    Dear Mr Premier,
Based on the recent verdict of the court case against the Sydney Roosters player, Shaun KennyDowall, of alleged 11 offences of domestic violence, and being proven notguilty on all 11 charges, I would think an apology from yourself to Shaun is certainly due.
Your comments suggesting the NRL should stand down KennyDowall till the case was over would have cost a innocent man his reputation and his salary at minimum. Not playing for over 8 months would have possibly ended his career as well. However, I am almost certain this was not your trail of thought when you decided to speak on this issue.
More than anything else Mr Premier, I truly hope this has taught you an important lesson in learning to hold your tongue and think about the situation completely before hanging yourself out to dry.
I am sure you will not be looking forward to the critics that will be lining up to let you know their thoughts in the near future. I am already aware of a couple of journalists that have already started putting their stories together.
However, you made the bed, so you must lie in it!
Good luck with it Mr Premier & I truly hope you do the right thing and apologise to Shaun KennyDowall, the Sydney Roosters, the NRL & all of its fans before you let the public and the media force you to do it.

    --------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your correspondence regarding Shaun Kenny-Dowall. I am replying on behalf of the Premier.
Your comments have been noted and will be brought to the Premier’s attention at the first available opportunity.
The Premier believes that every man or woman is innocent until proven guilty. However, when charges are laid for an offence of this type, he makes no apologies for calling on the NRL and other high-profile sporting groups to show leadership.
    Thank you for writing.
    Yours sincerely
    Gayle Mitchell
    Correspondence Manager

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear Premier/Ms Mitchell,

    Thank you for your response.

However, we all know that even if the Premier does read my correspondence, he will not reply.

You spoke about requiring the NRL and other high-profile sporting groups to show leadership, whilst our Premier himself can get himself to front Shaun Kenny-Dowall, the Sydney Roosters and the NRL and apologise for his actions. Pot. Kettle. Black.

What I did not mention in my initial correspondence is, I have witnessed domestic violence and know first hand what it feels like. However I, along with the majority of people, am not one to be pointing fingers and throwing accusations before the case has been heard at court.

Now it just looks like the Premier is supporting Jessica Peiris, simply because of her mothers political connections, and it is not a great look to be a supporter of a "calculating and deceitful" person (as per the Judge's words).

Mr Premier, 2016 has not got off to the best start for yourself. The least you can do is, make an apology to Shaun Kenny-Dowall and admit you jumped the gun. That would be the decent thing to do.

Considering he has time to comment on The Bachelor and other reality TV shows and maintain a quite social life on social media, I am sure an apology on one of his many social media accounts would not go astray.

I applaud your determination, but I think you are flogging a dead horse mate. He won't apologise. He asks sporting groups to show leadership, yet shows none himself

      You're absolutely right, unfortunately.
Even if SKD was guilty the premier's comments were out of line.
We cannot have high profile people prejudicing court matters, let alone the bloody premier.
But he won't admit he's wrong.

Well done on writing to the Premier, DJ_STA.

I also wrote and published their canned response on another post. Exactly word for word the same as your response. Poor effort from the Premier's Office

Maybe a petition here and at the ground then to be presented to the premier might make him make an apology in front of the media.

The response from the Premiers office was pathetic and the classic spin doctoring each way bet that is politic speak.

So when someone is charged with something....then someone needs to show leadership.

It says nought and is open to any form of interpretation.

              Prize bunkum.

"The Premier believes that every man or woman is innocent until proven guilty. However."

However = everything I just said is bs and this is what I really mean.

I can understand people working closely with children being stood down as a precautionary measure until case has been heard. SKDs case is nothing like that. He does not pose a threat to anyone he deals with in a professional context. As correctly pointed out by Paul Conlon, Baird is a disgrace to the legal system.

I believe he was a lawyer before politics? Not sure how that expression got past him.

This is the same Mike Baird that backgrounded Barry O'Farrell for months then whipped out the bottle of Grange he received as the final coup de grace so he could become the Christ figure his indoctrination in a far right religious organization has trained him to be. Like the Federal member for Warringah, Tony Abbott, who shares borders with him, he also shares his pious, holier than thou, wouldn't fart in church, hypocrisy. The is same local federal member who hounded Pauline Hanson, at the behest of John Howard, until she was jailed for very spurious 'political' reasons. I did not agree with word one Ms. Hanson said but I do not agree with what Mr. Abbott did either. It was certainly immoral if not illegal.

Mike Baird was salivating at the thought of the post Sydney siege press coverage when he thought could carry the body of that dead lawyer out in his arms to an adoring press. The fact that she was murdered by the paramilitary S.O.G. made that impossible. It's only the criminal incompetence of the state opposition, including Luke Foley (an empty shell of a man) that keeps Mr. Baird as popular as he seems to be. Baird is a martinet of the worst kind and I wouldn't expect an apology for his knee-jerk reaction to the now proven erroneous charges against Shaun-Kenny Dowall.

He's like the aforementioned cockroach that scurries around eating shit, it's in his nature.

"Leadership" = mandatory presumption of guilt.

                            Sounds like a Tory.

Having known someone very well, who produced letters for a public sector director, can I offer the following translation for the cut and paste correspondence below, which is the ultimate personal insult when you take the time to write - also known in rugby league terms as a block play.

Thank you (we really wished you hadn’t as it is now consuming considerable government resources for no political gain) for your correspondence regarding Shaun Kenny-Dowall. I am replying on behalf of the Premier (because now that the issue has lost any political currency – he can’t be bothered making the time of day for commenting on this matter personally).

Your comments have been noted (and stored in the Premier’s circular file just to the right of his desk along with today’s sandwich wrappings) and will be brought to the Premier’s attention at the first available opportunity (by the cleaner - “Premier you really need to empty your bin”).

The Premier believes that every man or woman is innocent until proven guilty. However ( but ( we are told not to use this word because it might sound the premier is contradicting himself) on this occasion he will suspend this closely held belief because of the political points he has gained from this) - because, when charges are laid for an offence of this type ( Please note premier ‘ Baird’'s strong stance with his party’s federal parliamentary members when they got drunk and acted inappropriately with a female employee working for them and then outed the woman to the media to try and intimidate her not to make a complaint), he makes no apologies for calling on the NRL and other high-profile sporting groups to show leadership (yes what exactly do you mean by this - take action against someone who may not be guilty ).

Thank you for writing (please note intro to first sentence).

Yours sincerely (we are told our letters come across as more convincing when we use this)

                              Gayle Mitchell

Correspondence Manager (only relation to the NRL – also known as the defence coach)
