I would expect that some clubs prove to be more successful at accelerating and optimising the development of fringe first graders and young players with unrealised potential. Those that do rely less on recruiting established NRL players. The Roosters are one of these clubs and Eddie's post highlights this.

I agree with everything you've said and haven't said anything to the contrary. In the context of the original post though we're talking about whether we would call them an imported player or a player we developed. I don't think acquiring players like JWH or Guerra or copely can count as developed players but are imported. They've played league or union or whatever else for 20 years and have often played a handful of games elsewhere. Whether they develop better once they're with us than they would at another club, I'd like to think so. I'd like to think we have the best talent identification, strength and conditioning as well as coaching staff in the nrl.

JWH wasn't named in the big league and Copely counted as one of the imports.

Because Musgrove hasn't played a game yet. And likely won't get a run all season. Reynolds is widely known to have been shopped around this off season, although is likely to stay since rusty blasted keary and now keary will be leaving. Walker was let go. Maqueen was let go. And because the players the players you listed are below average nuffies who could only get the job done once Inglis and the burgess clan came across. Despite constant boasting of your grass roots jrs program, the best souths players were all bought.

Parra Penrith west tigers Cronulla st George Illawarra Newcastle Canberra all have junior league gold mines yet since the NRL formed nearly 20 years ago we have featured in more GFs than all those combined. Shrewd recruitment is everything whether that be of established first graders or potential up and comers.
