Why did all the good attack come down the side of the field where one half was playing, while the other half who was playing with his club mates looked ordinary?

We finally saw them in the same team and we saw which one stood up and which one was hiding.
    very succinct and damning points.

I thought Mitchell played well and his defence was outstanding...if they had a bit more better go forward it would have enabled him to get better ball to the backs who looked good with a bit of room and there is speed to burn out wide for NSW if only they had some room from good go forward...

Soward did ok...what I don't get is he has blistering speed and rarely uses it...coming in to the middle of the ruck and probing around tired big forwards should be a big part of his game yet it's not...it's such a waste to have speed to burn and not utilise it at all...

On the opposite side Thurston and Lockyer were always probing...sure they got smashed around sometimes but they get up and have a crack again and again...

I saw Thurston get bumped off twice from blokes running straight at him yet he backs up all the time...once Soward gets that mentality and backs himself to have a go all the time during a game he'll then become a great player...he should be backing up half breaks and looking for offloads cause in broken play he's greased lightning...

It's a waste of raw talent and speed but if he hasn't got the ticker he'll remain a bloke to go to for a big boot and that's all...

Comparing Pearce to Soward as far as the kicking is not fair.

Soward waiting for Petero and Scott to be replaced before he kicked.

We were on the back foot until then.

        Soward should not be there.

If Todd didn't have the issues at the start of the season he would not be there.

          JT,

Absolutely 100% on the money, Carney is in a different league altogether to Soward. Soward only got the jersey by default, if Carney had stayed on the wagon he would have been 1st picked. Soward was MIA for the first 20 minutes of the game (I actually thought he might of gone off coz he'd pissed his pants). Soward didn't have the balls to take the ball to the line, in case the Qld forwards smashed him.

Sounds like how a certain other former Roosters half received their Blues Jersey LOL

You guys and girls must be American, you are far too Gullible to be Aussies.

Where have i said Pearce played shit???
Where have i said Soward played great????

You morons want a halfback that can tackle and not attack, Go figure, no wonder this club is a shambles.

Pearces defence was 1st rate, no doubt, yet Soward saved just as many tries and cleaned up many attacking kicks yet he is bagged???

A try saving tackle is the smae whether it is a big forward being cut down by Pearce, or a skinny little back being tackled by soward, who gives a flying fark where they defend????

I have no doubt Pearce would be the best Hooker in the country( as i have been saying for 3 years) his work ethic and game style is ideally suited, he has smith and co for pace and his short kicking game would increse 10 foldwithout having to wait for slow service from someone else.

How hard is it to understand, when Soward was hiding for the 1st 20 mins (whether it was his decision or Stickys it was poor form) the blues were absolutely dominated, Pearce tried his best to kick deep but kept finding slater and co on the full.Hardly his fault with the powderpuff girls in the forward pack going nowhere.

When Soward finally done something his kicks in the back end of the 1st half found open space time and time again, NSW mounted some pressure, but dropped the ball twice in QLDS 20, isnt this what happened????

So NSW did improve when Soward came from the shadows and got involved didnt they???

              My ratings

              Great - Gallen, Uate
              Very Good - Jennings
              Good- Pearce, Dugan, Bird
              Fair - Enniss, Soward
              Average - Merrin
              below average - Scott
              Bad - Snowden, Mannah
              Non existant - Gasnier, Creagh
              Not Interested - Morris
              Absolutely farken hopeless- King,Young

My initial rating of Snowden playing well was off mark, he was slow and lethargic, yet still better than the dragons contingant that are so used to winning, they thought it would just happen.

Disagree all you like, that is how i see it.

Soward and Pearce will be the halves the entire series and it Stuart grows some kahunas and gets brings in Idris, Hayne, Farah who can spark something NSW will win the series.

Who's decision was that though?? yes it was an ordinary tactic

I would have thought get as many touches as early as possible and as many kicks as possible to get rid off any nerves

I disagree with Soward " shouldn't be there" behind Carney ( when his head is right ) he is the next best 5/8

Hayne has had as many good games as i have had roots this season( married 18 yrs you do the maths lol)

Mullen is made look good by Gidley and that is saying something

Keating // Porter from the sharks ( who outplayed pearce and carney 2 weeks ago)

With Carney on song of course he would'nt be there, no question

With carneys current form and the useless hacks running around, soward must be there.

the kicking games is a difficult arguement to make. both werent particularly impressive but that wasnt helped by the forwards particularly the front row rotation who got rolled which meant they had no room to ball play or good field possession. some of sowards kicks though were questionable like his grubber from 40 out as oppossed to a more attacking kick like a bomb but this is a tedious argument in terms of kicking - they were hard to split which i guess considering soward is there for his kicking is probably another blow to young jamie.

in terms of defence. yes they did attack down pearces side all game. having said that, not one try was conceeded down the side of the field that could be attributed to pearce even remotely. there was morris' blunder and the grubber which gave QLD their first try which was kind of in the middle of the field anyway and hard to again point fault at the front line and if anyone maybe dugan for not being in position. slater did however score down our right side defence on which side soward was defending so whilst i am not going to say that it was sowards fault in anyway (especially considering he was playing outside uate most of the game and was saved by a couple of excellent reads from uate when he jammed in and likewise by gasnier that prevented soward looking like an absolute fool) but that try did come down the side of the field he was defending on so if anything, irrespetive of where QLD attacked all night, it was jamies side of the field that cracked so i dont know what sort of argument you are trying to make there about pearces defence.....

hate is a strong word. i used to love soward when he was a kid as hard as that may be for many to believe but the way he plays is sickening. the way he played out of dummy half early on to avoid contact and pressure and failed to put his hand up for a kick until towards the end of the second half when he was good and ready. the way he tries to make himself look involved by bobbing up in strange positions like in the in goal which in some instances can do more harm than good like the one or two mix ups in the in goal in the second half between soward and dugan. he defends outwide, has no confidence in his own ability and is made look good by a simple system and a very well drilled outfit. then he has the audacity to have the most arrogant and unneccessary kicking style in the NRL and ala sandow, puff his chest out like he is the worlds best player and carry on when his sides gets over the line when he snatches an intercept or loose late try as if he thinks he is some sort of superstar. he has had a lot of criticism throughout his career so i can appreciate that a lot of that is a product of that but until people can see his obvious flaws and recognise the sort of player he is and stop these ridiculous comparisons with players like pearce and carney who as proved again are far and away better players than jamie will ever be. what was jamie doing when he was 22? had he even cracked first grade yet? until this crap about poor us we let soward go, pearce is shit stops, i will continue posting this sort of stuff
You lost me at full of shit lol

Hopefully by 26 Pearce will have won 2 minor premierships, a grand final and a world club championship. hehehehehe

Look the argument will never stop, Soward was once a good friend, rarely hear from the guy these guys, but what i will say is, Soward in my opinion is unfairly ridiculed for an appearance of Aroogance etc etc, in my time that could not be further from the truth, he is pillared as a cat, an inept player, anybody who says he cannot play the game esp after the last 3 years is kidding themselves.

Do i know Pearce as a person, not in the slightest, have i seen some things involving him that i do not like, numourous.

Do i think he is the next immortal, put him on a pillar, defend him becuase he is without fault, untouchable, a media sweetheart NFW.

Do i think he is a good 1st grade halfback - very much so

Have i for 3 years and do i still beleive the guy would be the next Australian Hooker if someone would grow some nuts and put him there.

                      ABSO****ENLUTELY

But its ok i enjoy livening this place up with a good debate, easy fishing sometimes, debating is good, esp this type of debating when i dont have to use both hands.

                        BAAAAAHHH..Soward is a poof Rusty...

Soward went okay..That dropout could have been a game breaker with a better chase on it..

Playing a bit of dummy half & not kicking early was very strange, but he seemed to warm into the contest..His defence this year has been a revelation..His hit on Bird when they played the Titans was a cracker..I nearly fell off the lounge when i saw it..
