  • Guerra of 2015.

I don't think his whipping boy days are over yet.
He wasn't on his pat malone in being disappointing today, but as a senior forward his effort seemed particularly slack.
Has he done anything useful lately?
Justin Hodges might be the only one who thinks he has.

He works himself into the ground and then becomes ineffective.

And yet they could be quite easily...
Offer Guerra the captaincy and demand leadership or tear up his contract.

Or he could take it up with Uncle Nick over lunch...

Not prepared to write him off but his play can appear very slow and stifling sometimes. Currently out of form and I thought he drifted in and out of form last year too

                Geez we miss JWH.

Big chance for Mr G to show us how an experienced rep forward can inspire a young pack, but he played like he spent the warm up pulling billys.

                  Compared to Maubs

Am I being too hard on Guerra?
I know Maubs and both our young props can play a hell of a lot better, and Liu's input bordered on bugger all.
But Guerra's form has been lacklustre for a while now.

I think he worked hard but his impact was minimal.

He doesn't have SBW motor. Sure he can play 80 but his technique goes out the window as he becomes tired.

He can look quite sloppy at the backend of games.

Stats will differ depending on the source and are likely to be adjusted in the coming days anyway.

My gripe with Guerra is that he only gets $500k a season (reported) and plays accordingly... no more and no less regardless of the team's circumstances. In the absence of JWH, Cordner, and Moa named off the bench, it is, or at least should be expected that he lead the likes of Napa and Evans & co. Instead what we get is a thoughtless and frantic example of defending and predictable one out carries.

In the end it doesn't matter what you or I think of Guerra, nor is it a question of who is right here... what matters is what JWH and Cordner (to a lesser extent) think, and whether they see Guerra as riding on the coat-tails of theirs and the efforts of others in the team. I can easily imagine JWH becoming a little fed up with shouldering all of the go-forward responsibility when he's on the field but it must be awfully hard for him to watch that kind of performance from the sideline.

I don't care for debates, Double. It's allgood. I'm just throwing in my 2 cents.

Swap Guerra with Cordner and todays outcome would more than likely be the same.

They got a jump on us and collectively our pack got owned.

I'm trying hard to understand what others might see in Guerra and what I obviously don't. So then let me ask...

                            "... his impact was minimal."

In round 1, v's the vermin, and as the player 'expected' to lead by example? Why... did he drift off, stray from the game plan, or just plain stupid?

"... tired, ... sloppy, ...(lacking) technique".

Is he first grade standard? Of course he is. So can anyone explain to me why an elite player of our game displays these traits... week after week after week?

Guerra is a senior player and we really need him to stand up. Instead he turns his back on the defence and drops the ball.
