I'm trying hard to understand what others might see in Guerra and what I obviously don't. So then let me ask...
"... his impact was minimal."
In round 1, v's the vermin, and as the player 'expected' to lead by example? Why... did he drift off, stray from the game plan, or just plain stupid?
"... tired, ... sloppy, ...(lacking) technique".
Is he first grade standard? Of course he is. So can anyone explain to me why an elite player of our game displays these traits... week after week after week?
Week after week after week?
I thought he was exceptional during 2013. Solid 2014 and played well at the start of last season prior to his broken jaw. Definite form slump at the backend of last season which happens to the best of players at some stage of their careers. He also played well for QLD.
Today he had little to no impact as did the majority of the team.
My 2 bobs - Guerra was labouring after early onslaught. He tried too hard and made errors. Robbo, knowing that game was gone, said you're not coming off as the 80 will do wonders for you in the long run. As will the pain of being a part of that game motivate his near future.
Vinnie L could have came on earlier but didn't. In his debut it is hard to imagine too much effectiveness. Again, another opportunity it seems, for Robbo to see that Guerra's short term pain could lead to long term gains etc.
I'm not in the know but I'm looking for answers like most and this is what I've come up with. It was better for the team long term for Aidan to suffer a game like this than blood a freshie. In the long run, I hope the decisions made today help shape a beautiful year for the RWB.
For a senior forward I thought Guerra played at times like a schoolboy yesterday...

It's as good a theory as any.
But I know a better way to motivate him, that will also show the rest of the team that Robbo can make the tough calls..............
Wasn't taking a shot or anything postcode, it's just that Guerra is frustrating. When we are winning he looks great, but when we need him to lead from the front he's AWOL.
I'm at a loss to explain Guerra. As some have pointed out he is consistent in effort at the very least. But beating your head against a wall also requires effort.
