  • The Days of Old

It's like we have gone into a time machine.

Back to the mid-80's or early 90's.

It's weird to be in the position where we don't expect to win games. It's just like those days of old. The wins meant so much and make you so happy. The losses upset you but you are not embarrassed by them.

Just to play one final is all you want.

We have been spoilt for a long time.

Now we have to enjoy having an average team.

But don't worry. It won't be for long.

Yes good post, it does feel like that. I'm ok with an average year this year. We will be back very strong again next year

JT , I go back to the mid 70 s and then the biggest draw card was the team.

For as long as I can remember there has never been " a sure thing in Footy " and Yes , we have been Spoilt.

There is nothing wrong with supporting an "average team " it gives you hope and anyway everyone hates the "tall poppy "

we just got too used to very high expectations? these days my expectations are that the team give it a good shot defend well , score a few tries and dont go out on the town aftergame if they win?

Yeah , I was a kid then and after 74 & 5 you took winning for granted.
81 we thought we were back there.
The Turner stand rocked that year.
All these lean periods since is what being a supporter is all about I guess.
But we have been spoilt despite not winning as many gf's as we would like.
Hope JT is right about this period not lasting long, I reckon he is.

You should be ok - apart from the last bit.

It's a weird feeling especially after winning 1 comp and 3 minor premierships with such a great and entertaining roster.

                Last weekend was so bad!

The potential to do well this season is still there when JWH, Cords, Pearce and Toups return and the new combinations gel.

I wouldn't expect JWH to return to his best anytime soon after returning from such a major injury, if ever.

To lose Maloney, Jennings, RTS & Matagi all at once was a mistake by the club & then throw in injury & suspension to JWH, Cordner & Pearce has turned a highly competitive side into a bottom 8 side. The Roosters had the most potent centres in the game with top quality wingers & a dynamic fullback to a 18yo who played centre in England wing in rd 1 & FB in Rd 2 a top quality winger who now is in the centres a potent centre who doesnt know what position he will play a new centre that is no better than Elliott who plays Intrust Super Premiership plus 2 SOO halves have been replaced with the youngest halves combo in the comp.

Similar to 2012 when we had the slowest backline in the comp and the players eventually gave up.

Except this year with key players coming back we won't be giving up. I look forward to the possible juicy odds available to us after round 6.

                            Matagi?
I hardly think we are missing him.

He only played a couple of first grade games from memory. He looked to be an awesome player. Too bad we couldn't hang on to him.
