Pearce is one of the best organisers in the game. He hasn't accidentally been rated so highly by so many great judges his whole career.

It's hard to explain the culmination of his 60 touches a game on a forum without making a post as long as a PHD and putting everyone to sleep, the way he can control the tempo, how he dictates where the game is played, how he sets up plays tackles and sets before they happen, the structure he gives the team by playing direct and into the line and his overall decision making.

The one thing I always point back to is the regard in which the two most talented players to pull on our jersey since Brad Fittler hold him in. Todd Carney and SBW.

Carney by his own admission never hit the form he did at the Roosters because they didnt have a halfback like Pearce who could take the organisational duties off him and in the end Carney had to take that role on which stiffled his running game and creativity.

Well I'd read it, the dribble and projection of insecurities/adgendas on here put me to sleep anyway.

One thing about Pearce I've always wondered is why he doesn't take on the line more (like hunt) as he's pretty quick over a short distance and on the odd occasion he does, he loses the ball trying to offload.

Does he feel he weakens the upcoming play by taking himself out of it making it easier for the opposing defense?

Obviously don't want him getting tackled on the fifth, but I guess I'd like to see him mix it up more.

It looks great though when he combines short with maubs/Guerra off his right hip.

He was really good at this for while, but then got figured out because ti became too predictable. I personally think it's because he whips his arm out as he is about to sidestep, so it's telegraphed and the defence can see it coming now.

If he can get that coached out of him, with the help of Johns perhaps, then he'll be far more effective when taking the line on.

I fear for the NRL if that is the case.

That'd be my line too, if I didn't have the intellect to put a response together.

Who would you give the bench utility spot to?

Maubs - Mr Reliable. Bags of experience and always turns up.
Nikorima - Young but offers something no one else has.
Henderson - Our new wipping boy.

And today you borrowed your "intellect" from Todd Carney and Sonny Bill...........

Not sure how Maloney failed miserably, once Pearce was out injured, Maloney and Hastings played together to smash Manly and Souths in the last 2 rounds then narrowly lost by a kick that hit the uprights in the semi against Melbourne, then beat Canterbury, not to mention earlier in the season the Maloney Hastings combination beat the Warriors in NZ with our players missing for State of Origin. Pearce was back against Brisbane but clearly wasn't fit , by the time he came off the field the game was already shot so there was no way Jimmy and Jackson were going to change the out come.I'm not saying we would have beaten Brisbane with Maloney and Hastings as the starting halves but they had combined together well beforehand and Pearce was not clearly fit to return for that game.

No, original penalty for Napa hitting BJ high was right, you cannot reverse a penalty for the punch from BJ after that, BJ rightfully got 10 in the bin after that as a punch is instant sin binning now under the rules, the ref got both decisions right in this instance.

Basically we were playing the broncos with 16 fit players from the start and a clearly unfit Pearce. The actual comeback was more Fergos making and the space was created by Sheck. Pearce was a passenger in the Broncos Prelim Final and should not have played at all.
