  • HENDERSON WTF?

So a common thought on this forum over the past three years has been the idea that we have a pretty smart, perhaps even very smart coach. I have been impressed with TR. The way he handles himself and seems to always grasp the bigger picture has been impressive. So why the fark does he think we can beat teams with only 16 men? Why has he signed and now selected a non-player for the past two weeks? Seriously what the hell is going on? Does Robbo need a padded cell and electro-shock therapy? For 10 minutes surely anyone in the team could more or less do as well as Henderson. Robbo has such faith in the bloke that he could not bring him from the bench to the field despite the heat and our team losing. WTF Robbo??

    A penny for his thoughts.
Robbo needs to answer a couple of direct questions on the matter, and avoid coach babble at all costs.
One theory I read on here is that Hendo is just a fail-safe should Friend go down, but I can't buy that. It's too big a sacrifice for a little bit of peace of mind, plus Hendo hasn't shown he deserves that role in any case.

Sadly, I think it's a case of Hendo being the best hooking/utility option we have atm in Robbo's eyes.

With Aubo and Guerra playing 80 minutes - as do most clubs second rowers - you only need three forwards on the bench. A lock replacement and two at prop...

      SST - Liu
      Evans - Moa
      Napa - Leuluai

So unless Robbo sees value in giving someone like Connor Watson a crack off the bench then I think we're stuck with Hendo.

Ftr, I'd rather give someone like Watson a crack. Hell, even Joey Manu as backline cover or an option if we're desperate for points. Or even Nat Butcher, who could play backrow with Aubo shifting to hooker should anything happen to Friend. I'd rather he sit there and not play just for the experience than a plodder like Hendo.

At least those three options have upside. All have immense potential and so I'd rather give one of them a crack instead of going with the safe option of Hendo, who we know will be solid at best and painful at worst (see the Souffs game).

The roster is on the bare bones of it's arse at the moment. Due to injury, poor retention decisions and Canine carnality, we're down some cattle.

What's more weird was the fact that - Leulai went down injured in the last game and TR still didnt use Hendo.

So no idea why he was selected. The only upside of the situation is, Robbo realises that Hendo is of no use whatsoever and does not select him going forward. But I doubt this!

Also agree 110% with Tommy Smith's comment re: blooding some youngsters on the bench worst case scenario!

Is second tier money a problem? Perhaps that's why Omar (I love you Craig) Slaimankhel isn't in contention.

Our loss on Saturday, will go down as one of our most embarrassing. If you cannot be a Canberra team without their halves, lock and other injuries means only one thing.. We are in huge trouble.

It was bad no doubt. Very bad. But an extremely young halves pairing and FB. When Lachlan Croker went off it was the best thing for them. Hodgson went to the halves. Very good player who I believe we tried to geta few years ago but couldn't afford him. They then had a half decent hooker to fill in as well.

Kids will get better. This week will be tough though and cant see a win.

No Austin, no Sezer, Fensom gone after one minute. 22/39 completions for the Raiders. And we had 54% possessions.

It was a hugely concerning loss. Devastating, really. Especially given b2b atrocious defensive efforts on our line.

I've been advocating him without actually seeing him play. People bagged out burgess for Wyong last week but Omar was a ghost. Let the ball bounce 10m out from the tryline by not contesting a bomb. Rarely sighted after that. Our forwards won us that game.

There are 2 questions which left me confused during this game,

                      1. was why Heddo didn't get a run when the boys were definitely Gassed

                      and

                      2. Why did we go for the 2 point in front of the sticks when the opposition was on the ropes

What abut our injuries? You are speaking as though our 2013 premiership team played.

I think he got worn out running up and down the sidelines for 25min. I was watching him from about the 30min mark thinking he must be coming on soon, and never happened.

Again guys the point is not so much that Henderson is there for experience, due to salary cap restraints, cover for Friend but the fact that Robbo chose to go with 16 players rather than trust Henderson to do a job. The week before he came on a second rower. Seriously Robbo is losing credibility with this. As good as he may be he is not exempt from criticism or the occasional mistake. This is borderline incompetence imo.

I would like to also clearly state the following opinion. Henderson can not play. He is not a first grade level footballer. He is as old as time. Plus he is bald and looks like he should be hanging at the pub in a pair of thongs.
