Good job from a small fella
He should have the energy to tackle. He would have had the least amount of touches for any spine player on the field. If not any starting player on the field.

      • My problem with Robbo is that it seems like he only knows how to coach good sides.

Which isn't knocking his coaching ability, but we have very similar structures to last year. We should be giving more ball to our strike players and getting them in better positions.

Fergo and SST are dangerous and should be used much better. Mitchell needs to learn that if he runs the ball instead of jogging he'll be much more effective.

I still have faith in us, we'll make the 8.

Suddenly I really really appreciate Pearce.
Why? It's his fault his causing the halves issues. He gets good money to play for the team not act like a piss head.

Don't feel too bad for him mate..
He has had a glamour team for the past 3 years,it was never going to last forever.
It is time for him to adjust and make it happen with a not so powerful outfit!

              • The scary thing for me after watching that is that I think the cows could have put 60 on us we are in big trouble and there is no solution to this mess we just don't have the players.the teenagers are trying but the inexperience is showing big time

                      • Some key stats after 3 rounds;

Our 1x1 tackle stats are nearly twice those of our opposition. Combine this with our ineffective & missed tackles rates and we are anything but a defensive unit of any description.
Kick metres are well down and we're heaping even more pressure on our D in terms of repeat sets/field possession. Throw in the errors and the problems compound further.

In attack we are in an even worse predicament. Those looking to get us on the front foot are the very same individuals that have been under the pump in D. As a consequence we are seeing frantic play and trying to capitalise on the possession instead of concentrating on controlling the speed of the game, possession, field position and mistake free football. In other words, looking for the 'miracle plays', short cuts, call them what you will.

Aside from the above there appears to be a serious attitude problem with some in the side. Their focus and attention to detail is non-existent. What's even worse is seeing forwards loitering at 2nd receiver and being surprised when they're thrown the ball. Some of our players were coming back onside from the previous play and walking straight through a shift to the right and getting in the way of play.

I'm passed worrying about score lines, 2 competition points or coach's reputations. If Robbo's not familiar with the old fashioned attitude adjuster, and cannot wield whatever is the equivalent in coaching terms, then he's not half the coach I thought he was. Personal wise, if there are players who don't want to be at this club then piss them off post haste. Piss off anyone who's got any excuses also period.

On a positive, well done to Sio Siua Taukeiaho. Good to see his game go from strength to strength. A seriously good footballer.

Good post - I think that's the single most insightful indictment I've read on the current mess.

Yep and he's accepted full responsibility in the press conference (rather than blaming the refs or the players).

It's a brave new world. As he said, I thought the 15 min to 35 min mark actually showed some great footy!! We coulda gone into half-time 12-0 (or even 12-6... we gave ourselves LOTS of attacking opportunities). Unfortunately we wasted a lot of opportunities, got tired and opened the flood gates.

IMO analysing the game requires consideration of that. Mitchell was so tired he could hardly stand up at one point. The effort was clearly there, but we needed to score some tries during that 15-40 minute mark and start looking serious. Instead, we rushed passes and kept losing the ball forward when being tackled (would have to re-watch it which I refuse to do, but I suspect the Cows were coached to tackle near the ball and intentionally dislodge it... this worked very well because it was wet and we weren't protecting the ball enough).

The positive is that Mitchell gets better every week and this is gonna fast-track his match fitness. I can't imagine being thrown into 80 mins of first-grade as a fullback, straight from NYC. IMO no training can prepare you for the intensity of 80 mins of NRL... only experience can do it.

                              • The only problem with our side is that there is too many rookies on at once. Cordner and jwh will strengthen the middle of the field. Nikorima is a bench player for now. It's going to be hard to watch till our guns come back.
