if there has been one positive in the openning three rounds it is this kid. I hope he stays injury free and continues to devlop with the guidance of mini teaching him positioning. Cleaned up after tupou at least two or three times from memory

A year from now, he and HoJu will be getting close to world class players.

Getting the shit kicked out of you is character building.

He's a freak, but isn't fit enough for 80 mins of NRL yet. Hopefully a few more games at FB kicks him into shape... not saying he's unfit, but 80 mins at FB (particularly when we're playing like we are right now) requires a looooot of fitness.

I'm still unconvinced by him but we'll see I guess. IMO allowing nepotism to trump giving Maloney some deserving coin has really hurt us. We lack structure, and Hastings just tries to wing it on the last play every time. If he kicks another grubber dead, I'm gonna kick his arse so hard that he wishes it were dead!!

Hastings should be off the bench and Nikorima and Pearce will be running the show soon.

They said on Ch9 last night that he's 104kg ...the third biggest in the team.
At 18 he still has some growing to do, but as mentioned above his fitness is not quite there yet,. When he stops growing in a few years time and is first grade fit, he will be awesome.

Yep, we have some young players who have amazing potential thrown in a bit earlier that we would obviously have liked. Struggling a bit now, but exciting for our future....

Its hurt us short term there's no doubt. My understanding was that Maloney wanted a long term deal and we didn't want to commit to more than 2 years. If we sign him for 4yrs we would not have signed Niko and we would probably have lost Hastings as well. Sometimes it's better to let a player leave a year too early then to be stuck with them when the used by date has been exceeded.

We could have re signed Maloney and released the other non performing 200 game rookie

I think he will be good, eventually if he stays injury free but that's no guarantee however he is no Ingliss yet so I think the comparisons may have gone to his head. i don't like how he takes the ball up slowly. He has good speed of the mark but usually he hits the line very slowly...It's OK he's a kid so no expectations here but the the club made a mistake in the fullback department.

I think he is taking the ball up slowly as he is still getting used to the speed of the game and at times he looks tired out there. There was a stage last night late in the 1st half where he was completely out on his feet. He will be a very very good player in the next couple fo seasons though You can just see it Im not suprised by anything he has done so far and by that I mean both the bad and the good

I understand, he's young. The fullback position is not only about attacking but also desperate defending and in those first tries, he had nothing to offer. It all became cloudy for me after that that I don't recall their other tries. He's no fullback today. I don't understand how Fergo was groomed for the position all summer and after 1 game he's removed. Couldn't they see this was going to be a problem?
