  • So Now We're Chasing Gillett

    GILLETT IN DEMAND
Off-contract and a regular Queensland representative, Broncos forward Matt Gillett looms as one of the few remaining stars left on the open market in 2016.
According to The Courier Mail’s senior reporter Peter Badel, Brisbane will have to up their offer significantly if they’re to hang onto his services.
There are some clubs circling Matt Gillett,” Badel told the NRL 360 panel.
“The Roosters are interested in him, they’re a glamour club with a lot of money and they
generally get players they want to target.
“I also know there’s a Sydney club that have offered Matt Gillett $700,000 a season.
“He’s currently on $450,000 a season at the Broncos so they’ll have to up the ante to keep him.”

Sounds like a manager trying to bump his client's asking price to me

I dont think he is on the Roosters radar but I think SBW is. But then again who knows what might happen.

IMO playing with SBW in 2107 could be a carrot for Gillett but the club would have to let a Guerra or Liu type player go.

              Will never happen.

The Broncs don't lose players they want to keep. On the contrary they re-sign them at 40% under market value and make up the rest with unlimited TPAs.

They're the only club that operates on an unlimited salary cap.

Hence the truth behind Coprophilia leaving.

Gillett will be a bonco for life. Your post is very tongue in cheek but I imagine there's a kernel of truth.

                      Probably.
The salary cap is supposed to make all clubs "glamour" clubs.

When he announces he's staying at the bronc pty ltd joint, the courier mail will call it a close shave.

I'd pay 800k a year for Te'o and compromise depth before signing Gillett for 600k.

We need another hard carnt that can also play footy.

Sounds like we're willing to break the bank in the hope that sbw will turn the clubs culture around. Culture starts at the top.
