  • Pearce and Johns

Alright so I needed a spirit lifter so I re watched the 2013 grand final.

One thing that triggered me is Pearces kicking. At the start of this season I said I was worried about our long kicking game and that has shown to be a huge let down for us this year.
Pearce has struggeled with his short kicking game but his long kicking has always been pretty good.

I am really looking forward to Peace working with Johns this season. Perfecting that long kicking game and hopefully fixing his short kicking.

We really need it right now.

I'd take Pearce. Johns is too old.

Pearce's boot featured heavily in the week 1 semi vs Manly 2013.

it's also the height that he get's which gives the chases time.

He was in career best form the following season. (2014) Easily our best and carried the BBQ throughout that year.

Pearce has always been a strong long kicker. It is when brain power is required that sees him struggle.

Pearce has the longest and most accurate box kick in the comp. He is worth an extra 10m+ per set over Hastings.

It was at the end of 2014 when Pearce spent some time with John's old coach that he finally matured as a halfback. He stopped trying to be a match-winner like Thurston and got on the with job of with being a good organiser. That is the point the haters are missing.

I'm excited about what might come from this partnership. Hopefully Mitchell can lift his game 5%.

              Some points -

              1) Mitchell might never be a legend of the game like his Dad, but he is a much better half back than Wayne could ever have been.

              2) Despite good speed, he doesn't really come across as someone who has time with the ball in his hands. I think this is an anxiety thing. It's fixable.
