Are we not in this position because of recruitment/retention decisions the club has made? The answer is yes.

We wouldn't be talking about recruitment/retention if our big 4 were available.( JWH, Pearce, Cordner, Hendo ; )

The salary cap makes it impossible to stockpile talent.

We will flog a number of teams and give the better sides a run for their money in the near future.

I'm proud of the boys performance today.

Geez we used to hear that a lot pre-2013.

Latrell Mitchell was knocked back by the Knights @ a Harrold Matts try out, then we picked him up.
Taukeiaho was sitting in reserve grade @ the Warriors and no one knew his name
Liu was a Tigers 20's player who was let go and unwanted.
Daniel Tupou was unwanted by the Eels and was about to give up on a FG career.

Yes we've competed for a lot of highly rated talent too like Hastings, Nikorima, JWH & RTS but the irony is you'd probably be bagging him even more if we hadn't. We're a club with the smallest junior base in the league of course we're going to have to throw the chequebook around.

I reckon we're probably the most successful club in the league at buying young talent.

Robbo is as safe as a bank. No one else could do a better job not even my other favourite Bellamy.

Great job by both. A thing called the salary cap f%cks us.

I think they're both doing a great job - particularly Robbo - and I wouldn't swap them for anyone.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

What position are you talking about, coming off 3 seasons where our club has won 5 major trophies? Yes recruitment and retention has played a huge part in that such as the recruitment of Boyd Cordner, Roger Tuivasa Sheck, Daniel Tupou, Isaac Liu, Siosiua Taukeiaho, Dylan Napa, Kane Evans etc who have played varying roles to building and sustaining our recent success plus the addition of established first grade players such as Sonny Bill Williams, Michael Jennings, James Maloney and Luke O'Donnell. We are in the position of 1 win and 5 losses because our 3 best players have been injured and suspended so far this season and during 3 of those losses we have lost very close matches that have gone down to the wire where I believe that the missing experience and talent has suffered us losses that we should have won. Roger Tuivasa Sheck was not let go he was simply offered a deal he felt he could not turn down and when James Maloney was let go the club could not foresee the Mitchell Pearce Incident. We have had to throw in 3 players in to the deep end in the 3 most important positions, two of those players are teenagers with Jackson Hastings recently turning 20. By rights we should only have seen Latrell Mitchell thrown in to the deep end with Jayden Nikorima learning his craft coming off the bench in first grade or playing regularly in the President's Cup and Jackson Hastings playing the support role to Mitchell Pearce but circumstances has forced our hand and things in life do not go as smoothly as planned.

It is a complete over reaction to suddenly start criticising the coach and our recruitment for a poor start to the season where things have happened out of our control and I do believe that in the bigger picture the likes of Latrell Mitchell, Jayden Nikorima and Jackson Hastings will be better for the exposure to first grade.
