Was there any opportunity for Friend to have a crack from dummy half? I was hoping he would take a sneaky attempt as often the defensive line is focused on the first receiver.

We might not be the greatest field goal exponents but we sure knew how to ice a game.

I think because the losses always sting a little more we build up a false perception of our own capabilities.

I'm not convinced a team like the Storm are any better at closing tight games.

We are definitely not where we want to be this year but we'll get there.

      That one burnt though.

        Sure you do.

There's more to it than just being in good field position.

Valentine Holmes was snapping them in his first season. Moylan had kicked from memory 5 match winning field goals in his first 2 seasons. You need coolness under pressure and a decent kicking technique. They have that.

Kicking the drop goal is the easy part. Hell Anthony Minichiello kicked one.

It's earning field position, spreading the defence, getting the last play the ball to the right part of the field and then earning a fast play the ball that are the hard things.

thats cool ...... but he also has to take responsibility for whta his players are learning...ya see he blew his stack for the first time in his career when Horri Jr messed up against Canberra and he did it again today. Its just young blokes learning to communicate at the moment it will come.

Anyone remember Adrian Lam's last minute field goal vs Norths 1999 @ SFS (the day Lady Di passed away)?

The Roosters are a stupid team and have been a stupid team for many seasons. I don't know what it is that sees the dumb, low percentage plays, repeated time and again, plays such as the mid-field bomb in golden point with its attendant broken defensive line and pathetic attempts to tackle that friggin worriers winger and the cheque. Easts have lost games like that one many times before and you'd think they'd learn.

                        Idiots.

The most successful club/team since 2000. 2 Premierships, 6 Grand Final appearances, 3 Minor Premierships & in the 8 almost every year. You are hard to please.
The Pearce not playing has crippled things if he was playing I would say we would be 3 from 5 & no Cordner & JWH is massive.

I would rather he just drill the outside backs in how to defend. Our right side defence is a shambles, has been shambles all year, and continues to be a shambles.

This is exactly right. We wouldn't need to worry about setting up for field goals if Ferguson (especially) would stop coming out of the line and leaving gaping holes for the opposition to score tries from. It is the number one thing we need to fix. And while everyone is blaming poor Nikorima for being small and being targetted in defence, it's Ferguison who needs to work on his reads in defence. It is a major problem and a liability. We reduce our chances of winning a game by continually conceding too many points. And while Fergo is an attacking weapon, he nullifies all his good work by giving up a try or more through poor defensive reads for every try he sets up or scores.
