End of story. Do or die. Now or never. If it means we face 3-5 years of soul searching whilst they mature, the rewards await. But even you cant see it. Yep lets buy some other club's nuffies.
This is what is wrong with Eastern Suburbs. From the Chair to the fan.Opposition Players hate Easts and would hate to sign up with a pussy club like ours - its only about tehmoney at Easts....it always was.
how does me saying we need someone like heighington for a couple of years for some leadership and experience to help transition our young forwards into grade suddenly defy logic? the main reason i would have him over say bolton is the fact that he will not get in the way of the progression of the younger guys in the long run but instead help stabilise the side in the interim. Masoe, Tasi, Cordner, Lowe are all still very raw. masoe has a poor workrate imo, tasi is only 2 games into first grade and cordner has had more injuries and interupted football than you can poke a stick at. of course i think they have what it takes but you would have to be mad to decide to get rid of ryles, myles, anasta, piggy, watts and replace them with no one in the hope that the young guys will miraculously become top draw first graders over night. For next year id like to see:
8. JWH
9. Friend
10. Kennedy
11. Maubs
12. Guerra/Cordner/Lowe
13. Heighington
14. Symonds
15. Ryles/Ross/Gibbs/Poore
16. Tasi/Masoe
17. FPN/Cherrington
you can see that there is depth and a good mix of youth and experience which every side needs. by the time ryles/ross and heighington retire, slowly we will be able to bring through the younger guys.

Which means one thing. Baptism of fire. I reckon we test your ratings and churn and burn the youth. The good ones will make it the rest can be pissed off. We need a 5 year plan not a 12 month one. The club has no valid vision for development or long term strategy.
We want success and we want it now....thats why we NEVER GET IT.Alcohol never solved any life problems.....then again neither did milk.

Back in 1995, Gus Gould came here along with Freddy and Sing. It took 7 years and three coaches to get a grand final win.
That's the long term plan that should be in place, barring the turnover of coaches.
I envision Todd Carney, if he stays sober, leading the Roosters to a grand final win in 2016 at the earliest.

JWH, Friend, Kennedy, Tasi, Cherrington, Symonds, Aubusson, Cordner, Mataka, Arona, Guerra are an excellent core group of talented young forwards who we should stick with before going out and buying a heap of players.
When FPN actually wants to play he can be the ball playing, hole running 2nd rower that we need - but at present he seems to have an acute case of Anastyphillis which sees players become lethargic, lacking energy, become obsessed with counting money and a serious shrinking of the heart muscle. Mose is another that can be devastating, but lately seems to put more effort into becoming the next BA Barracus rather than a dominating Roosters prop.
Young guys bring hunger and enthusiasm to a team, sure they make mistakes but only because they are having a go. Unlike some of the overpaid, underachieving senior players who mistakes because they don't give a shit as long as they get paid.
In reality we need an prop who can make 100+ metres each and every game, a fullback to eventually replace Mini, as well as a couple of really quick outside backs (who preferably can also tackle and catch a high ball). It also wouldn't hurt to bring in an attacking back up hooker who can ensure that Friend gets a decent rest each game and can come on at the back end of each half and try and exploit tired forwards from the opposition. I wouldn't mind seeing what Dumbrell has to offer, before we go looking outside.Last edited by Funky Chicken; 05-31-2011, 05:53 PM.
