i honestly believe that we need to sign a prop and a backrower with ryles, myles and anasta going the other way for next year. heighington as ive stated if available would be a good fit. another player that may be worth inquiry would be ryan hoffman. went overseas because of the storm's cap problems but would be the perfect signing imo. has plenty of rep and first grade experience, has won premierships and will be 28 next year which is roughly the right age for us to rely on him as a forward leader. he would be dynamite running off carney and pearce on the edges like maubs.

No thanks. I go away for six months and I can see that little has changed at the club. We are just a nice little retirement home where fans want to pay exorbitant amounts for not that good players.

heighington, gallen, fensom, lewis, parker and harrison are far and away the best lock forwards in the game. they have massive workrates and most importantly experience which is what we need considering the age of our side across the park. i cant see why people think it is some how a transit lounge type solution or worse still that he is average or crap. he is right up there with the best in the nrl week in week out, is captaincy material, is excellent on and off the field and will add invaluable experience and workrate to our pack which has been lacking. transit lounge signings are omeley, mason - unnecessary big money signings that were never going to contribute anything. he would fill a hole in our side and doesnt have the sort of attitude that would see him come and rest on his lorals. it would be equivalent of petro signing for penrith. if you dont think he is that good, i stongly suggest you watch a few more games and look at his stats

Tigers tell Heighington to hit the road

WESTS Tigers have devised a plan to revamp their pack by recruiting and developing size, but the issue has become: at what cost will next year's vision affect this season's results?

Workaholic back-rower Chris Heighington, the heart and soul of the Tigers' pack for the past five seasons, has been forced to begin the search for an alternative club.

The reason is one of the harsh realities of professional football. Coach Tim Sheens has told the 168-game Tigers forward he will more than likely be playing from the bench next season.

Four-time premiership winner Sheens has decided the club is in need of a makeover, targeting size and strength as the key ingredients for a forward pack considered to have a soft underbelly by its NRL rivals.

It's a brutal call on a one-club servant who won a premiership with the Tigers in 2005 and is as much the nucleus of the team as Benji Marshall or Robbie Farah.

The biggest issue facing the Tigers this season is going to be keeping the club together when everyone knows next season it is being torn apart.

Gone are the 2005 premiership winner Bryce Gibbs, boom rookie Andrew Fifita and most likely Heighington, while Liam Fulton was another one-club player also told he could go.

Even Sheens admits it's been a distraction and it's going to take a professional organisation to overcome it.

It was earlier this year that Sheens admitted the issue of long-serving players being forced out has had an impact on the club. Since then, the Tigers coach has spoken to all players involved.

One thing is certain, however, Heighington is an NRL warrior.

And if he is forced to switch clubs, his new home will be the richer for his presence.

"As far as the distraction's concerned, yeah, there's some distraction. You're lying if you say there's not," Sheens said.

"But at the end of the day Chris asked me an honest question so I gave him an honest answer.

"He's in the mix - but we're looking to be bigger and stronger. Recruitment and some of the kids coming through, we're looking at those things. We've been bullied by bigger, stronger sides at times."

I say yes. I rate him as a player. The guy has some ticker. We are going to need some more experienced heads in our pack next year, especially losing Myles and maybe Anasta? IMO every team needs a good mixture of youth and experience to be successful.

I think the problem with this is that Heighington . Gallen, Lewis and Parker esp to me are 1 club players. I am not sure they could produce their form if them moved .As much as he does ok for Bne I don't rate Parker as highly as the other 3. Harrison can have a good game, but keeps showing on average he isn't that good.
Fensom I haven't seen enough, but what I have seen has been good

I replied yes earlier on in this thread but not at any price. What Roostarz says here is true too about having a mix of youth and experience. My *only* concern with Heighington is who out of the incumbent budding locks and second rowers the Roosters would have to shed to bring Chris here.

Groom a kid we have a tonne of back rowers with heart...none of them play first grade though at the moment.

I laugh at how we criticise the club for buying everything out there, and the same people wanting Heighington will be complaining about his marquee status when he doesnt deliver. Just like you bastards are all whinging about Myles now. ****ing idiots.

We dont need to buy back rowers. We need 1 prop to replace I Robot, and we need 2 good outside backs, because we got rid of our decent ones.
Thanks for that Melon, you made that post for the both of us.

I've got no problem with that solution.
