    Nowadays they use bloody kicking tees now....the guys Cockadoodle refers to including himself would use a bit of dirt or dig a small hole in the ground and bang a leather ball over more often than not. He also was a damn good goal kicker for junior team he played in.
    I preferred sand myself. When I was the leading goal kicker in Group 10 in 1994 kicking tees were just starting to come out but I stuck to the sand. Didn't want to do the ball boy out a job who's job it was to carry the sand bucket.

    As for kicking goals in front, yeah piece of cake. The one's I hated when I kicked were the one 10-15m either side of the posts. They should be a gimme but they're not and everybody expects you to get them. The one's from the sideline, generally no pressure because they're a bonus if you get them. I am still dirty on the local news station though that showed only one of my kicks in that season, and it was the one I shanked that rolled along the ground....

      Group 10 = Cowra magpies and Bathurst teams right? I know this area well.

        Yep thats the one. I was with Cowra at the time, coached at Orange CYMs and Bathurst Panthers later in life
