Same here and furthered by the alleged interest in Corey Norman. Let's say for a moment that what Waylander says is true and Hastings is on the nose with some in management, why would they want to replace Hastings as a 6 when Matterson (also a 6) is available and acquitting himself nicely thus far? Count me as confused as well.

Don't bet on it. His attitude is still questionable, and some of our management is less than impressed.... hence our interest in other halves on the market like Coote and Norman.

If his contribution becomes particularly valuable, he might be worth persevering with, but otherwise there are some not willing to put up with his ego.

He had a good game???? It is nice everyone is pumping up his tyres, but I think he did'nt have a bad game is a more accurate summary. He did'nt do much at all for a number 6. His goal kicking is excellent, i will give him that, but a future playmaker/leader of the club, I don't think so. Is it me or is he really slow and telegraph everything he does? Very predictable and makes Mitchell Pearce look like Usain Bolt, and that he ain't.

I read that story with interest, as it gave credence to my own suspicions.

Essentially, I had come to this conclusion from my own observations, principally that:

• Any celebrations by team mates when Hastings does something good seem to be strangely muted compared to others.
• His own comments in a recent interview that (I'll paraphrase) 'he had grown as a man, but still had work to do' indicates that he is still being called out on attitude, behaviour or ego.
• Our apparent strong interest in halves options, when it appears that Pearce has been accepted back with open arms by all and sundry.

So I've drawn my own conclusions based on the above. If anyone has a more logical explanation I'm happy to listen.

But watch carefully and I think you'll agree, he just doesn't seem to get the same reaction out of his teammates as others do. I think that says a lot.

It's just my opinion Johnny, no one has to agree with it. A lack of consensus has never stopped you putting in your 2 bobs worth. That's kind of the idea of internet forums, to get a diversity of views and opinions.

I doubt anyone on this site has any real inside knowledge when it comes to recruitment & retention, so it's all just conjecture really. Only time will tell, and the best of plans and strategies can get thrown out the window pretty quick in the NRL, i.e. RTS. I'll just buckle up and go along for the ride like everyone else.
