I call bullshit on this. Hastings picks up his kicking tea and hands it to the ball boy after every goal kick, that's not the actions of someone with a "questionable" attitude.

I read that story with interest, as it gave credence to my own suspicions.

Essentially, I had come to this conclusion from my own observations, principally that:

• Any celebrations by team mates when Hastings does something good seem to be strangely muted compared to others.
• His own comments in a recent interview that (I'll paraphrase) 'he had grown as a man, but still had work to do' indicates that he is still being called out on attitude, behaviour or ego.
• Our apparent strong interest in halves options, when it appears that Pearce has been accepted back with open arms by all and sundry.

So I've drawn my own conclusions based on the above. If anyone has a more logical explanation I'm happy to listen.

But watch carefully and I think you'll agree, he just doesn't seem to get the same reaction out of his teammates as others do. I think that says a lot.

He had a good game???? It is nice everyone is pumping up his tyres, but I think he did'nt have a bad game is a more accurate summary. He did'nt do much at all for a number 6. His goal kicking is excellent, i will give him that, but a future playmaker/leader of the club, I don't think so. Is it me or is he really slow and telegraph everything he does? Very predictable and makes Mitchell Pearce look like Usain Bolt, and that he ain't.

You don't think 2 line breaks, a line break assist, a try assist, 3 tackle breaks, an offload and 7/7 with the boot is a good game?

I would be surprised if he could do it all himself as has almost been expected while Pearce was away, given he is still young and inexperienced.

I like how he is going and I am happy that the natural order of things looks like it maybe restored.

Lets not forget Pearce was given lots of excuses for a long time, and had less pressure on him at the start.

I reserve judgement on Hoju for now, but I really hope he succeeds for his old man's sake if nothing else.
His recent goalkicking should help with his confidence.

As to the off field rumours...........................exaggerated or not, they are a TIT situation.

The effect of having Pearce beside him was immediate for Jackson. By far his best game.

Ran the ball.

Great short kicking game.

And didn't miss a goal.

Very happy for him.

Yep he had a great game , he's done the hard yards all season , he will get even better , looking forward to watching him play for the roosters for the next 10 years at least.

It's just my opinion Johnny, no one has to agree with it. A lack of consensus has never stopped you putting in your 2 bobs worth. That's kind of the idea of internet forums, to get a diversity of views and opinions.

I doubt anyone on this site has any real inside knowledge when it comes to recruitment & retention, so it's all just conjecture really. Only time will tell, and the best of plans and strategies can get thrown out the window pretty quick in the NRL, i.e. RTS. I'll just buckle up and go along for the ride like everyone else.

It's amazing isn't it. But so many on here were ready to hang him because he couldn't deliver us games without the experienced players in the team.
But on a less serious note, he needs to get rid of the beard.

Spot on. He was a victim of being thrown in at the deep end because of the stupidity of Pearce. As was Nikorima. Now he has Pearce next to him he can concentrate on HIS game. And yes, the beard is terrible.

Geez. Talk about missing the point. There are those who expected Hastings to perform without Pearce, and those that didn't.

The issue was that when Pearce was suspended, Jackson had to partner a kid even less experienced than himself. It's not as if they put him immediately with Guerra , or tried Maubs there with him etc.

I think Hastings could have performed without Pearce, as long as he was put with another player of FG experience. It was always gonna be tough with Nikorima, who Robbo as we know didn't really want to put him in there.
