I don't think NRL has the power to sack people.

Probably not but maybe NRL stipulated those 5 had to go to continue playing for points. Parra will have one week to respond and appeal.

Those officials were named too including Sharpe, Boulos and Anderson.

The NRL doesn't have the authority to sack people outside of their own organisation but they can de-register them or disqualify them which effectively is a constructive dismissal. in other words, they say you are not our employee or contractor but you fall under the banner of our 'competition' and we have determined that you are not a fit and proper person to be involved in our 'competition'. It is then up to the individual club as to what they do with their employee or contractor.

They are allowed to renegotiate existing contracts. This is the same bs that allowed the Bulldogs to retain their cheating team and win a premiership.

Interestingly some of the sacked executives have filed appeals not sure if to Supreme Court or Federal Court. It's going to get ugly on a number of fronts including I'm reading about that the Storm is considering a legal challenge too.

One of the reductions maybe if Watmough retires as I'm led to believe they only have paid half his salary so far for 2016. That would save them about 300-350K as he would then claim via insurance. The saving is based on the assumption a bargain basement player takes his place. They then would only have to sacrifice a portion of their dodgy 3rd party deals to then stay intact.

Tell ya what Toddys farmed 165K out of us, 1mil out of Parra and the seasons not even half over, Its gonna be one hell of a harbour cruise at the end of the year.

I think that the removal of the 12 points has not gone far enough and is actually still a disadvantage to all their upcoming opponents. According to the statistics they are still a very good chance to make the finals. So each week's opponents will have to contend with an extremely motivated no-holds-barred backs-to-the-wall Parra team. As the cut-off for the finals is 28 they should have been penalised enough points to ensure that they could not make the finals... just my thoughts though!

Parra were also stripped of their Nine's title. No mention whether they will be forced to pay back the $500k first prize so I am assuming not. That means the effective fine for Parra is $250k (with $250k suspended).

Parramatta have been hit with a lettuce leaf. Broncos got away with it last year. The NRL (National Rupert League) need the heartland of rugby league in Sydney's West and in Queensland to remain strong. Just imagine if we got caught cooking the books, the club would probably be suspended for 5 years lol...

The last of the boys club ? I suspect it all very timely the Parra debacle and it furthers corporation of the game whether directly or indirectly whilst Parra stadium being revamped. A possible take over of the club if not them others by News Limited private partnership with the NRL

Unless they sort out their issues quickly they can't play for any points. I think this issue is going to get uglier really fast.
