ROOSTER FOR LIFE
Veteran backrower Mitchell Aubusson is set to ink a new three-year-deal which should make him a Roosters player for life.
Market Watch can reveal the Roosters are waiting for Aubusson’s management to get back to them with the finer details of the deal but anticipate the contract to be signed off on before the end of the month.
The premiership winner told foxsports.com.au contract negotiations are still progressing with his manager, with talks in the final stages.
“Getting close,” Aubusson told Market Watch.
“Hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll get that sorted. I’ll just leave that with the manager and the club.”
A versatile player, Aubusson has played over 200 NRL games for the Roosters since making his debut in 2007.
In his 10th season of first grade with the Tricolours, the new deal will take him through until the end of 2019 by which time he’ll be 32.
Essentially the new contract means Aubusson should be able to finish his career with the one club, a proud moment for the workhorse.
“That’s one of the things that’s drawn me to this club,” he said.
“I consider myself a pretty loyal person and this club has done so much for me, brought me down as a country kid and I’d love to be able to finish my career here.”
