  • Mason Vs Shack - a comparison

I was just breezing through our forwards stats this season, and I realized this:

    Shane Shackleton

8 games, 1 linebreak, 1 try, 6 offloads, 14 tackle breaks, 50 minutes average, 11 hitups average, 86 metres average, 22 tackles average, 1 missed tackle average, 5 penalties, 5 errors

    Willie Mason

8 games, 1 linebreak, 1 try, 6 offloads, 16 tackle breaks, 65 minutes average, 12 hitups average, 91 metres average, 22 tackles average, 1 missed tackle average, 7 errors, 6 penalties

They are ALMOST identical stats, yet one player is on a huge contract, the other is on significantly less. Mason really needs to start running wide, breaking tackles and offloading again, his stats are, much like Shack's, reflective of a hard-running workhorse.

On a side note, plenty of respect for FPN, only 2 penalties conceded all year, and not a single error as of now. Outstanding mate.

Mack one is coming back from a reco on his knee though and the other has done nothing for the club for 5 years. I would like to see this thread at the end of the season

BG surely you can't be asserting that Mason has been value for money?

I just don't understand why Shack is thought of so highly ?

Why people laud him as the savior ? He has been at this club for a long time and done very little.

Mason was one of our best player last year until injured and his stats since returning are very good. I am happy that Mase puts in each week

Ok mate, but i'm not on the Loveshack bandwagon either.

My point is that we are paying phone numbers for Mason,so in my opinion he should be a game winner for us...or at least a game breaker..

I was loving him last year......until he proved a point in the 1st dogs game...that satified him & he was invisible (or just before he got hurt...diabolical with his handling) for the rest of the year....until he got hurt..

Unfortunately for him,he is getting paid to do more than just "put in" every week..

If he was on 1/2 his contract money i would be more than happy with his effort..

fair enough horrie, but the same could be said for ALL the players on our team. mason isnt the only one on big money. if he wasnt a dog, would he still be singled out. i think not.

What happened to the Love Shack?

I remember him doing a video about how much he loved the Roosters and the buggering off to Manly or something a week later.

Retired now, kicking back on a beach full of beautiful women, martinis and Cuban cigars?
