  • The Big Mystery - who is our $600K war chest for?

Lets look at the bigger names off contract and potential targets for the $600k We can narrow it down from there:

    Matt Gillett
    Tony Williams
    Micheal Ennis
    David Fifita
    Luke Lewis
    Matt Srama
    Daniel Mortimer
    Brenton Lawrence
    Feliti Mateo
    Jorge Taufua
    Cooper Cronk
    Kenny Bromwich
    Blake Green
    Charlie Gubb
    Ben Henry
    Jeff Robson
    James Mcmanus
    Robbie Rochow
    Tariq Sims
    Ethan Lowe
    Justin O Neill
    James Tamou
    Michael Gordon
    Corey Norman
    James Segeyaro
    Luke Keary
    Benji Marshall
    Mitch Rein

IMO if its a half we are after, we could do a lot worse than Blake Green 5/8 from the Storm.
Segeyaro could also be a bolter, although i'm unsure if he has played halves previously or whether he is a specialist 9.

IMO Kenny Bromwich would be a handy replacement for Moa.

IMO Ethan Lowe would be a handy replacement for Guerra.

I believe either SBW or Hayne are very slim odds at this stage because it would require us shedding more players which isn't the way to go when team harmony is as it is. Not to mention competition from other clubs and codes.

i just sure hope there is a plan because it could be grim days ahead i feel, i agree sbw and hayne long odds and i hate to say it some of our youngsters do not appear ready or up to it. i for one am concerned with how our season has panned out and can see not a lot of light at the end of the tunnel. complete shambles , very disappointing.

        Sort of agree.
But surely with the players that have left and the little we have signed there is a substantial amount of cap space left?
Most probably don't agree but I'd love to see Cronk here for a few years, still has so much to offer

A warchest for Blake Green? give me strength.. No chance of getting those other players whatsoever.

I do not believe that anybody in the list of players mentioned is worth chasing for $600,000.00 besides Cooper Cronk who would ask for double that anyway.

I'm not suggesting he is worth $600K at all - possibly $300 - 400K. Provides much better value than the likes of Keary, Robson or Marshall.

Norman and Segyaro are the other standout options for mine in the halves but I can't see Norman leaving Parra, and whether he is worth the reported $800K is questionable. Does anyone know if Segs can play in the halves?

Cronk - NO. Too old, too expensive. And in terms of skillset much too similar to Pearce.

It's interesting times IMO. We have 4 halves in the squad - Pearce, Hastings, Matterson and Watson. At least one of them will be gone by seasons end, of that i'm sure.

I'd least like to see Hastings go of that lot. Norman and Hastings halves pairing would be nice. Lots of flair. Lots of points. That list isn't necessarily reflective of talent on hand. Once hayne, cronk, tamou and Gillette agree to terms it may cause reshuffles at alot of clubs. Particularly Haynes signing. There'll be a domino effect.

Isn't the 600k only for this year?

Sounds a bit dodgy Steakface. You aren't sure Segayaro is a half but you rate him as a top halves prospect. I still like Corey Norman. I think he would make a good replacement for Maloney.
