My understanding is that you can only negotiate a contract with another club until the last year of your current contract unless your current club grants permission.

All sounds like talk to me.

thats what i was thinking.. It would be weird to sign him and he still will be playing for the raiders this year and next year.

Didnt the abolishment of the June 30 deadline mean that you could potentially sign someone 5 years before their contract is up

It'd be a bad move for Duggan to announce this far out that he'll be leaving the Raiders for 2013. The Canberra faithfull will hunt him down !

We can all agree that Dugan is a great player, but a part of me thinks that he would fit very easily into the Roosters current club culture. He and Pearce appear to get on well and obviously Carney and him do too. It's a double edged sword isn't it? They could develop the most amazing combination (a la Pearce/Carney 2010), at the same time their bogan/lads culture business could have detrimental effect on the team (Roosters 2011). Pearce is mature enough and has clearly pulled himself together but Carney and Dugan... Could be a case of dumb and dumber.

Not sure how it would all work out, but if he's available and willing we should take the risk. Players like him are a rare and valuable commodity.

Buying him with over a year to run on his contract
Buying him at the top of the market
                    His injury proneness
He presents as a big head

                    good reasons to steer clear

Copy that! He WAS an amazing player...who played well on the weekend. He also played well against a terrible Knights team. The rest of the year he was very ordinary. Anyone basing the opinion on footy knowledge ( and not compassion and sympathy) would agree. I have had the pleasure of talking to Mini and it is clearly obvious why he is one of the most loved and popular players in the NRL. He is a gentleman. But father time is catching up with him and we need to think about a replacement. It is called succession planning and hopefully for the benefit of our club that planning involves Josh Dugan. But alas...for your benefit...... I will try to screw me.

It could be their plan Holmes. Announce it now so Canberra gey jack of him and decide to release him for 2012.

                            I reckon he's coming.

                            Great signing if he is.

I believe that the moratorium was moved to the start of the last year on the current contract.
