He and Pearce have always wanted play in the same side in senior footy and you never know it could well bring the best out of both players. If the price is right it couldn't be any worse than what we have at the moment.

He also has relationship problems with the mother of his two kids. Depression is quite common. It can also be very debilitating and when you're one of the best you are always in the spotlight, have media commitments and constantly speculated upon in the media. That's a pretty high risk environment for someone getting paid 50k a game.

He suffers from depression. As does half of the population. It's not like he's a liability.

Are people assuming that he has had long term depression?
I think this episode could have occurred due to the break up. I can't imagine how one would react if someone took daily access to their kids away particularly due to how young they are.
I would take Foran in a heartbeat at a decent price. On best form BBQ wouldn't tie his shoelace.

I truly wish him all the best and he's a fantastic player but for a mil a season he's too much of a risk for me. He's already missed two games this year and no one will know how bad it is bar keiren and that makes it difficult to negotiate a deal.

If I had to choose a 5/8 to partner Pearce I would take Maloney over Foran every time. Because Maloney has what Pearce and Foran doesn't.
I think Foran is a very good, tough player. Nothing flashy at all. But for me Jimmy is a true 5/8 in the traditional way.Embrace the Hate! JC

Not so much an organiser. If anything, Foran and Pearce play a similar game so I'm not sure how well they would play together.

As for Foran's depression, where was it prior to one month ago? This setback is all because of a serious break up involving two young kids which he adores. His reaction would be the same as most people. Do we get rid of SKD because he went through a phase of depression. Wasn't he on suicide watch and in and out of hospital?
I also don't believe for a minute that Foran attempted to take his life. He overdosed on antidepressants (or whatever they were) but more by accident than intentional. And if he did attempt to take his life he wouldn't be playing again this year let alone after two weeks. His family and the club would make sure of that.

As it stands, Hastings is out of favour. Nikorima is too young and Matterson appears to be more of a roaming lock or ball playing backrower. Either way, neither of these three options are what we currently need.
We lack direction. I feel Pearce has been more than solid since his return but with an 18 year old fullback (currently - perhaps Gordon) and a lack of 5/8, we are still missing direction and options in both attack and defence.
The Eels are a nut case. An article has been released today about half of their 2017 salary cap being tied up by 5 players (Foran, Scott, Semi, Jenko and Watmough despite his retirement), as their TPAs will reportedly be part of the salary cap. Add that to attempting to re-sign Norman and probably still attempting to chase Hayne.
Foran, for a vast array of reasons (not necessarily to do with the Eels club) hasn't been settled this season. Perhaps another change of scenery could be good for him. He's also good mates with Pearce which would help both on and off the field.
Foran is a free agent come November. I would love for us to make a play. A lot would have to align, but I wouldn't entirely discard the potential for a deal to be struck.
Thoughts?
